New GT-S Owner in Salt Lake City
Over the last couple of weeks I have been searching for a replacement for my Alfa Romeo 4C and came across a very clean 2016 AMG GT-S. As of today she begins her journey from San Antonio, TX all the way up here to Salt Lake City, Utah. Delivery is scheduled for Wednesday and I couldn't be more excited. I already have new, wider tires (Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus, 275/305) sitting in my garage ready to replace the OEM Michelins (if anyone wants them, let me know!) due to the low temps as we head into Winter.
Here are a couple of photos of the car prepping for transport. I had the dealership, Mark Motors, take care of the 5-year service and the B-service before I purchased the car. A PPI from Mercedes of Boerne, TX came back immaculate as they stated this is one of the cleanest AMGs they've seen.
Of course, we have to talk about options. This GT-S has a sticker of $163k, checking off all of the options I was searching for: Ceramic brakes, Burmester high-end audio, panoramic roof, exclusive interior pack, dynamic plus pack, exclusive/carbon fiber interior trim pack and even the night package. Interior photos will be uploaded when I take delivery, but inside is all extended leather and alcantara with white accents on the seats. Outside the car is Diamond White Metallic which I am super excited to see in the Utah sun.
Congrats on the new addition to your garage. Here are too many happy miles ahead!

Unfortunately, no car yet. Was told delivery would be yesterday, then today by 5pm... it's currently 6pm and I have had zero contact with the delivery driver or broker since this morning. Car's been in transit from San Antonio TX since Saturday.... does it really take 5 days for a pickup truck and a single car, enclosed trailer to drive this distance? Starting to worry...

I know the wait must be killing you. I took a look at the map and I see some issues:
First of all, the driver will be close enough on the first day to Amarillo. It's worth a stop there for the Big Texan. If you can eat the 72 oz steak and all the sides in an hour they give you the meal free. It's worth it, but then the driver will be laid up overnight digesting all that steak.
The next night he'll be in Albuquerque. There he'll stop at the Owl Cafe for the green chili cheese burger. Here too he'll be laid up for the night digesting that. The next morning he'll make Santa Fe and he'll stop for breakfast at Pasqual's. The wait alone will kill a half a day. Then a "rest" to digest.
From there, if he makes Durango by the next day there is the Ore House. Here again, it's the same - eat, rest, rinse, repeat. And god forbid if he's a skier as the (old) Purgatory might already be open. You CANNOT go through Four Corners as a skier and not ski Durango.
I think I'm up to four/five days already, but if he makes it past Durango then it's smooth sailing! Only trouble might be Diesel fuel (shortage) if his truck is diesel.
Best to you,
Acta
