Service B for my 19’ GTR
Engine oil, filter and transmission fluid flush is what i was told by the local MB dealer. Car has 21k miles on it
im planning on using an exotic car dealerships service center instead of taking it to the dealer (cost is half)
Anything else i need done while the car is there? Do i need differential oil changed too?

- Oil change + oil filter change.
- Cabin airfilter.
- Brake flush.
- Visual inspection: brakes, tires...
I have been told by a MB specilaist that a brake flush is not mandatory every 2 years ...
Your GTR being a 2019 year, you might want to consider the brake flush though...
Before you have the service done at a non-MB workshop, consider that the service should also be entered (speedo unit) and reseted.
Euro MB Specifications:
Engine oil / filter 12 months or 20000km / 12500mls
Oil change gearbox / differential / clutch is planned every 40000km / 25000mls.
GT / GTS / GTC brake fluid every 2 years. MB brake fluid.
GTR / GTR-Pro / Black Series brake fluid after 1 year.
A different brake fluid (Castrol Reakt SRF) is also planned here by AMG. This is NOT in the WIS.
Cabin filter all B Service: Ergo 40000km or 2 years.
Dont like the maintenance instructions from MB. It's more a matter of making the workshops work to capacity.
Why change oils / oil filters / cabin filters after a set time? The wear depends only on the operating time (Km/mls).
My personal experience / recommendation:
Inspection/review at least twice a year. (High performance car)
and after every race track use.
Engine oil / filter:
Normal driving style: 5000km (engine with very high intermediate pressure)
until
Racetrack : 1000km / 600mls
All transmission oils:
Normal driving: 20000km (Oil is cheap, Transmission is expensive :-) )
until
Racetrack : 5000km / 3000mls
Brake fluid:
Normal driving: Measure the water content, after 3 years at the latest
until
Race track: 3 months / 1000 km / 600mls
Cabin filter: 20000km / 12500mls or 5 years (hygenic reasons)
Spark plugs: 50000km / 30000mls
Best regards
Stenzel
so transmission and differential oil along with engine oil and filter?
stenzel, i had oil changed 5k miles ago (13 months back) so should i bother with engine oil or wait another 5k miles or 11 months.
and yes they will reset the service interval

I'm not the omniscient oil guru. I can only give you my opinion and approach.
Oil wear:
Mechanical, here driven total mls / Km:
Oil really wears out mechanically. This means the molecular chains are mechanically chopped up. That's why a long-life / fully synthetic oil is really more durable, since the molecular chains are "extended" by synthesis.
Lots of short haul:
Here you usually get petrol shares, water shares in the engine oil. These parts "boil" out again when the oil is then at operating temperature for a longer time.
Would define < 30mls as short haul.
High engine speeds, high engine load, high oil temperatures, oil hotspots (e.g. turbo bearings):
It goes without saying that these shorten the service life of the oil.
Age:
Here I only see a problem with very, very old oil. Certainly not after a year. No dealer throws away new oil after 2 years. :-)
Now you can weigh for yourself what the oil has had to withstand so far.
5kmls at slow speed or 5kmls race track is a big difference.
Mercedes specifies 12500mls. Or after 12 months (Even if you only drove 100 mls. Ridiculous)
My personal opinion. No claim to the only truth.
The M178 is already a high performance engine. Relatively small displacement. Lots of boost pressure. High RPM. And very expensive.
I change the engine oil after 3000 mls at the latest. Cost me max. 50 USD for oil/filter and 15 extra min.
I doubt it would be necessary.
But, at 7000 rpm, all your oil is pushed through the entire engine every 2 seconds at 4 bar.
Then I'm just calmer.
What is the total cost of 3000mls? Only for petrol / tires? A little bit of oil doesn't matter.
