Reliability/issues 2016 AMG GTS?
Im looking at either an 2016 AMG GTS or 2017 AMG GT for around 70-80k USD. 30-50K Miles preferably.
I've been reading up on this forum and there doesn't seem to be any scary engine issues. Although there has been talks about trans issue.
For a 30-50k mile on a car like this, should i be expecting any major reliability issues?
I will be daily driving this and it will be my first 2 seater sports car.

The major issue atm is transmission issues. I went through my first one at 26k-ish miles, and it was an $18k repair bill from MB. I've seen some folks around that are on their 3rd transmissions.

I'm considering selling my 2017 GTS. Let me know and we can talk about it.

For Fidelity warranty coverage, I'd be happy to help! Reach out for pricing or if anyone has any questions. tgibson@highline-autos.com (855) 924-1333. Something to keep in mind while searching, Fidelity is mileage sensitive and has pricing tiers every 10K miles, so you'd want to purchase an AMG GT under 35K miles for the best pricing in your window @Frankie Xenon

I did the same thing you are considering two years ago, but my car is not my daily driver, I think I've put about 5k miles total on mine in the two years. One oil change/maintenance and I needed new tires. My horn quit working, no other issues. I sort of have the impression that I'll only need fluid changes, brakes, tires etc., but who knows. Guess I'll have a battery issue which brings up that the GTS has a lithium battery.

2016 GTS is an awesome looking and driving machine, however, I also had a transmission failure (rpm sensor inside the transmission case) at 35k miles. MBUSA and dealer covered half of the $20k replacement cost. It wasn't pretty.

Porsche and Audi seem much better for extended warranty than Merc or Bmw over here too.
If the GTC has solved the gearbox issues I’ll go with that.
Can’t bring myself to pay more for a GTR now than they cost at 2 years old.

I have almost 100,000 kms, located in Canada and have had zero issues. I had spark plugs done, regular Mobil One oil changes, air filters, no tunes, new tires several times, all the regular stuff. My friend has a 2016 also and has over 150,000 kms probably highest mileage GTS out there and NO ISSUES too! I drive mine almost daily during the Summer and Fall, then store it for the winter months. I do a mix of highway going to my cottage and city. The most reliable sports car I have ever had. Wouldn't hesitate getting a higher mileage car as long as fluids have been taken care of, wasn't tracked constantly, and was not involved in major collision. I find buying a low mileage car is not always good. The fluids sit there and typically just because it has low mileage doesn't mean much, when a car sits in an unheated garage, moisture builds up everywhere.

It's a roll of the dice. One guy in our local group is on his 3rd, another his 2nd, and I had to have mine replaced as well. There were no symptoms prior to it just dumping fluid all over my garage. Personally, I would never consider another 2016.

My next car will be a keeper so I can do without that.
Is the issue sorted in the GTC?

I haven't seen/heard of this problem on the GTC or GTR. Only known issue with either of those is the uncommon exhaust valve sticking, but that can potential affect any of the trims with the valved exhaust.

I've had my 2016 GT-S since May 2016 bought new, so 8 years old now. Two of the active mounts (one engine in warranty, one tranny out of warranty) failed, and the high pressure power steering hose let go, out of warranty, expensive fix. I drive mine on track a lot. Other than that, no other issues. Transmission has been perfect. I consider the car as very reliable based on the hard use I give it. About 30,000 kms so far.
