CarPlay for 2019 GTR
Has anyone tried using this kit for 2019 GTR? https://www.gtacarkits.com/product/w...gtr-2016-2019/
I bought a GTR this week, and I am certainly not thrilled with the ancient infotaiment system, and I would like to install CarPlay/Android Auto to make longer trips easier.

Bought the carlinklife kit using their discount code mbux last week. $280 delivered in 9 days. Will install it in a couple of weeks when I'm back in town. Will post my results. They are an mbworld.org sponsor. NGT 5.0 version.

1. Phone call audio doesn't seem to work if I'm connected to CarPlay on an outbound call. Inbound calls seem to work. I'll typically just disconnect the USB cord if I'm having issues and it will default to the MB Bluetooth.
2. The CarPlay wifi takes quite a while to disconnect, my phone would keep connecting to it through the garage - had to switch to USB only which I don't mind, I charge my phone in the car anyways.
That being said, I still think it's worth it - the ancient nav system really dates the car and this fixes my only issue with the car. Install was easy, took maybe an hour - their youtube video to guide the install is great.

I bought this kit you posted, all in all it works great but there's a couple problems that I'm having with it (may be my installation error):

I emailed GTACarKits, and they said that the install for the GTR is just like the vid. The TC button is part of the panel that needs to be removed first, and there is a wiring plug that needs to be disconnected before the panel can be fully removed.

I do not. I'm the one asking about it. It is $300 vs $550 for the GTA. Functionality appears the same.
I'm not cheap (I spent $200 on a gas cap and $2,600 on an intake for a car that benefited from neither), just curious if there is a good value there.

I just installed the carlinklife kit. Install was easy but I have no sound. The install video from the GTA kit was very similar. It may be just a simple dip switch change or flipping the fiber optic connection. Easy to toggle between Comand and Android Auto and Waze works well. Reverse camera comes on when I go into reverse, but no sound is annoying. Gonna contact customer support and revisit this later today.

Tech support just had me go into settings on the device and clicked one box, rebooted, reconnected phone to Comand BT. Sound works perfectly now. 2 minute fix. Total cost $280 delivered.

Can you confirm which one you installed for your GT C?
None of their products specify for "GT" model, although i assume there's gonna be significant overlap. . .

Yes, understood.
But again, the link you posted (https://carlinklife.com/products/ful...r_id=177400169)
reveals a product for the S/E Chassis, and appears to be an In-Dash Screen, not free floating as on the GT x models
Can you please confirm which one you obtained from CarlinkLife for your GT C

The link I posted is the exact model I installed in my 18 GTC roadster. Just make sure you click the box for NTG 5.0, not 5.5 or 6.0. It lists for $329.99 but there was a discount code the sponsor posted in the E Class forum. There is another model they sell that lists GTC/GTR in the application list. The one I bought is the newer improved version. I chatted with them online and showed them pics of my floating screen, and they confirmed it would work.

I just purchased a 2019 GTC. Getting the car back today from PPF and Ceramic coating today. Car came with a forward camera. Have to put the car in reverse and then drive to activate the forward camera. Wonder if either of these head units will screw that up.

If it is a factory camera, it should work fine with the CarPlay boxes but I will call the GTA guys on Monday to verify.

I wired up the GTA kit, but there is no sound. The install was more annoying than their vid, because there is a large styrofoam block under the cup holders that blocks the OEM media unit. I'll contact their support to see what might be wrong.
