Advice on repairing door pockets in ‘18 GT C Roadster

Hey there any advice on repairing the door pockets in my ‘18 GT C roadster? I’m thinking maybe to just glue it back together? It looks like the last owner had a habit of closing the door by pulling on the door pocket.

Attaching pictures. I’m located in central FL. Thank you!

I have the same problem. I am not the original owner and the previous owner obviously did this. I used contact cement, but it’s not really holding that well. My instinct is to just put a small black screw in.
I haven’t really done anything else other than using the contact cement and then I try not to use the pocket at all.
I’m sure if you were to find an interior person they could figure out a way to fix it that would not really show. I mean, I don’t really plan on selling the car anytime soon since I just got it so I could always take the screw out if I wanted to and it’s gonna leave some tiny little hole that nobody would see anyway. it wouldn’t devalue the car. Imo

I would check with a couple of auto upholstery shops, & see how they would handle that type of repair.

Because this actually ripped the fiber board beneath the leather, you need a strong glue like epoxy. Superglue won’t work for this type of repair because it likely won’t last because it can fracture. Upholstery cement, or anything rubbery will not hold. You might want to drill tiny holes in the receiving end so when you put the glue in there, it will have something to bite into.

There used to be a mobile vinyl/leather repair outfit called ServiceMaster. Don't know if they are still around as this was in the 70's. A friend of mine had a franchise and I went with him to the dealerships where he would fix vinyl roofs. Yeah that was a thing back then. They provided other services as well.

It's difficult to see how this pocket is attached. Is there a fastener installed from the inside of the door panel that screws into the pocket piece that has pulled away?

There is a type of plastic fastener. In my car that’s actually been broken.

My solution using a zip tie. It works, and it is strong. The cement I used gave way soon as it got warm.

I wonder if its possible to drill out the fastener end, and then reglue a new one. I assume the leather is folded and stitched over the base part of the fastener so that it would be held in place.

That might work. But it would entail a lot of working things that I don't have. It was easy to put that zip tie in. Actually I wouldn't say it was super easy just getting the right angle. Anyway, it's done.

Thanks for letting me know about the zip tie fix! I think I’m going to go for it. Do you have any steps or tips you can share? Thank you

Pretty much just look at the picture. You're gonna have to drill one small hole so that you can put the zip tie through that on the side. My feeling was if for some reason I don't like that I can always repair that small hole. The other option is to just get a small screw and put it in the front. But my feeling is the zip ties so easy and readily available. Just need a small zip tie. It's a little tricky to fish the zip pie through. You have to play with a little bit, but it's really no big deal. Only took a few minutes.
