The best metal polisher on the market for me is NEVR-DULL. All it takes it a little to heavy rubbing to get the blackness off the pipes. Works for me, so should work for you as well.

You can find NEVR-DULL in a circular tin can at any automotive care store.

Ditto on the NEVR DULL. I have a large can that is 30 years old, and it still works better than anything I've tried on chrome/stainless/aluminum etc.!!!

Try some tar remover on the baked on soot before the polish of your choice. It saves a lot of elbow grease.

Mothers is the mother of all cleaners for chrome and aluminum. You could spend an entire day finding aluminum bits & pieces in our engine compartment which, after a little "mothering" come out looking superpolished.

Oooooooh mother.

Mothers

I was going to try to find "Mothers" online, can anyone give me anymore information on company name or anything. If I search for mothers online, no telling what I am going to get, but I am quite sure it won't have anything to do with cleaning chrome.

Do I understand this right that this would be the product to use to make cleaning chrome exhaust tips easier?

Thanks.

ditto on the mothers, I think never-dull is better on aluminum. I take a bit of the mothers, put it on a small terry towel, and with a old shoe-shine method, I wrap it around the pipe, and it's done very quickly, easy to get the upper part of the tailpipe where the rear panel is close by.

One of these?

When looking at their website, I see the folowing products, which one are you using with success on the chrome exhaust tips?

MAG & ALUMINUM POLISH

This is our legendary metal polish. Mothers®' secret formula balances a brilliant shine with easy use for aluminum wheels and parts, brass, alloys and accessories. Application is just a matter of a clean cloth and a little elbow grease. Mothers® Mag & Aluminum polish is strong enough to put a shine to the most neglected metals and gentle enough to use on a regular basis.

CHROME POLISH

Designed to work exceptionally well on all chrome, Mothers® Chrome Polish will give you the crisp sparkle you want. Better yet, this polish protects your chrome with advanced polymers, resisting smudges and fingerprints. Use our Chrome Polish on your wheels, bumpers, mirrors, headlight bezels and chrome accessories. It's safe to use on black chrome and works great on glass. If you want your chrome to gleam with the brightest, this is it.

the second one.. the chrome one... ( you did say you had chrome correct? ) the first mag/aluminum one i think is too harsh and will end up hurting your pipes
