Arggh, huge bird droppings, what now?
Doh, big blobs of bird droppings on my hood.
Dangit, right after dinner i walk out and find the hood of my car covered in freakin' bird droppings. I going to wait till tomorrow to wash it off with car soap and water, but untill then will it be harmful if i leave it alone over night?
If not, what should i wipe away with without scratching the paint?
Usually, i find bird droppings on the windshield and i wipe it right off with windex, but never have i gotten bird droppings on the paint.

the sooner the better you get them off. The acid in the droppings will etch the clear coat and will require a lot of buffing or wetsanding to remove these etchings. I recommend a wash with a car wash soap and a good wash mitt asap. If you don't want to wash, you can spray a mist or 2 of quick detailer on the droppings and wipe them off with a 100% cotton terry cloth towel or preferably a Microfiber towel.

When this happens on the road, I wait until my first stop, take a bunch of very wet paper towels, and let them sit on the area to soften up the offending material. I then gently blot it off. (Rubbing is a bad idea, the droppings are often very abrasive, and paper towels are too.) This is only a stop gap measure until I can get the car home for a bath, but I agree with AlBoston, this stuff is bad for paint, and the sooner you remove it the better. You do not want the sun baking this stuff into your paint. You don't even want it sitting on the car overnight.
