I feel for you, but if it doesn't come out with a microfiber cloth and some spray wax let the pros do it.

If you go to the local auto store and buy some "instant scratch remover" in a bottle you very likely will make the problem worse than it already is by removing the clear coat, paint, etc...

Be a man a fess up. Your did will be pissed in the short term but utlimately much less so than if you lie about it or botch his car up even more.

Steel wool with Ajax will get that right out. The harder you rub the faster it works.

Goto like a pep boys or a advance auto parts store and get the BUG AND TAR REMOVER. It has some chemicals in it that will wipe off the scratch. In addition it will give it a wax like shine.

things with and without wheels
without seeing this damage I cannot even try to give you advice on how to take out the scratches,Yeah there are plenty of products out there to try and different buffing wheels to use .Taking scratches out also depends on the color ,
with that said fess-up and then with your father's permission take it to the professionals and pay for it out of your pocket, your father will appreciate your honesty and responsibility more then you sneaking behind his back .

Yes, agreed! That is perfect. Or, just an SOS pad with water. Just bear down very hard.

Just tell your dad. If he is anything like us, he would notice it even if you did your best to fix it.

Don't listen to all those other guys. Just do what norb says and you'll be fine. The rest of you guys... cut it out!

I've had great experiences wet-sanding with VERY fine grit paper. 300 would be best for the paint.

The truth will set you free.. I suggest you find out what is needed to repair the scratch. If you have cut through the clear coat you will need repaint. But any case failure to tell the truth will make You the bigger issue than the scratch. Otherwise be a Man and take your

Besides when your dad's writing his book he will have some fresh material . Jim

Had a gf who used medium grit wood sandpaper and never understood why the paint didnt look right. Meguirs Scratch remover can work ok, but wouldnt use anything else. Either way your going to notice a scratch. Now the real question is which one of you has a son and you are currently at work?!

LOL. That is a good one!

If it were my son/daughter, I would definitely want to know and take care of the scratches MYSELF. They'd be much better off by telling me ahead of time, and let me make the repair decisions. I would die knowing that my son tried anything on his own and took the chance of REALLY messing things up.

When your dad gets home ask him to take you to the mall or somewhere a lot of people are. Get into the car and try to distract him as he gets in. Once you get to whereever you are going you can then blame it on someone else who would have been at the mall. the trick is don't let him see it until you get back home, then say "damn, someone scratched your car"
