I just got hit by two rocks that took of a small piece of paint on my CLK 430. Can anyone tell me the best procedure to use the Mercedes touch up paint? One is on the hood and one on the driver door.
The rocks actually took off all the paint and there's a very small section of bare metal showing, but no dent. The chip is so obvious on my black opal car. I am so bumbed.
Thanks,

Touch it up quickly or it will start to rust.
Had the same problem with mine, but no choice except to touch up. Some same say clean the area with alcohol then touch up.

Any thoughts on best tools to apply touch up paint? What do the pros use or the Dealers use?
I thought about using a toothpick or the end of a match. I can't imagine using the brush that comes in the paint bottle.

Hey John I hope this isn't too late...I have a wonderful paint touch up kit I purchased from Griot's Garage. It's got a stiff brush scratcher which helps kinda smooth over the surface, tiny foam swabs, and a rust inhibbiting primer pen. I've touched up all of my cars at one point or another with it, and it works great. An idea of how easy it is to use, my 7 yo nephew touched up my Mustang with excellent results. Check with Griot's for the touch up kit.

Be careful though... some touchup paint don't really give you back 100% look. I myself will take it a professional and spend few more bucks to get a pro finish... at least ask your MB dealer who they use to handle chips/dents etc (normally they contract someone else) and contact that pro on your own... this way you don't have to pay the dealer for having your car fixed by the guy and pay double. I hear black cars are easier to touch up anyway... Good Luck!

Thanks for the input everyone. The dealer today said they don't have any special techniques or tools to fill the chips...I kind of doubt that.
I've filled the chips using a tootpick so the bare metal doesn't show anymore...I'll investigate the touch up tookit mentioned earlier. I don't think I can ever fill the chip so the paint is flush with the rest of the door.

Using touchup paint is more complicated that would first meet the eye. You need to prep the surface, fill it, sand it, repaint it, sand it, and then polish the area. I have some detailed instructions if you'd like, just let me know.

Joseph, I've e-mailed you the instructions.
Frank: DO NOT USE Turtle Wax chip repair. Their GS27 is a mild abrasive, it works just okay for mild scratches. However, the fill in stick you are talking about will not work. It does not look professional at all and I would never use it.

For those who are familiar with Langka application for paint chip repairs (Thanks to Justin for bringing this app. to my attention) here is a detailed link with photos on how to use it. Also Langka has their own site with additional info:

click on "How To" and then scroll down to the Langka bottle and click.

![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Izzit true what the guy at impalahq says about clay, and I quote,"Using the clay bar is a lot of work and contrary to what they say, it does remove a layer of the clearcoat."
He says this at: http://www.impalahq.com/HowTo/Spraycan.html

Let me put it this way: with Langka, you go from 100% bad to 40-50% bad.... based on my opinion and experience with it.

I tried Langka and here is my take on it
It sounded, just like all other touch up kits, too good to be true and it is. to give the product a fair shot, it is good only if you need to remove paint from a previously repaired chip or scratch; it removed the paint on a scratch i fixed 3 months before.
Langka takes off the touchup paint (not original OEM factory paint). Let me put it this way: Assuming you follow all instructions and have the exact color for your touchup job, and depending on color of your car, Lanka will make a 100% bad scratch/chip look 75-80% bad... does that help? It is not a 100% or even 90% so don't have high hopes with Lankga.. it's kinda good if you are , unlike me, don't much care for details or not picky on looks...
i ended up taking my car to a professional referred to me by my local MB dealer and fixed few chips and redid the front bumper scratches all for $125. The guy did a professional job and i didn't have to miss around with all the touchup stuff on the market that is useless.
