Meguiar's Hot Wheel is okay (I clean the hell out of my wheels and I have noticed that Meguiar's keeps brake dust from getting under my fingernails and cuticles when I'm cleaning the inside of the wheel), but that Eagle One stuff I think is better; it seems to leave the wheel slightly shinier and more resistant to dust buildup.

Homemade wheel cleaner?
Anyone out there have a recipe for a wheel cleaner? I am tired of handing $4.00/bottle to retail establishments for fluid which is probably available for 10% of that cost if made at home.

elbow grease....just use car wash soap, works perfectly fine, i wont ever use chemicals on my wheels that I wouldnt put on the paint of my car.
SUPER stubborn brake dust...use your clay bar. Ill take my fee later when you thank me for how well it works

I second the elbow grease theory. If you clean the wheels regularly, there won't be much build up anyway! :p
Actually, I'm probably no different than the majority here and pull the wheels every couple of months and give them a good cleaning and polish inside and out.

I only use wheel cleaner when the rims are BLACK and I mean REALLY dirty. If not I use car wash soap and that brush they have there (the ONLY time I use that brush). Then I go home and use Spray Away to detail them. Every couple of months I put a coat of regular Armor All carnauba car wax (cause it's cheap) on them to treat the coating on them. I've done this with all my cars and NEVER had a problem with clear coat peeling or oxidation.

~One mans opinion / observation~
I’d second the Griot’s wheel cleaner or P21S
AlpharettaC32
I’m surprised it lasts that long as a Carnauba wax has very little durability, melts at 180o and will evaporate over time. Suggest once wheel rims are clean applying a polymer sealant (2 coats) this will also stop brake dust adherence, all that should be required to maintain the rims is a car wash concentrate.
~Hope this helps~
Experience unshared; is knowledge wasted…/

I've found that when I've got 'baked-on' brake dust spots on the rims, that using Klasse All-In-One (AFTER first washing the wheels normally) is able to remove the spots.
The most important thing is to stay on top of the situation, and to remove these spots before they have a chance to etch into the paint (as happened on my wife's Passat).
It's a lot easier to keep the wheels looking great, than to try to rehab them after they've become 'rough'.
