What the hell is this? A diesel forum? A DIESEL FORUM?
Who the HELL in his right mind would own those stinky, underpowered, stinky, slow, stinky, noisy and did I mention stinky DIESEL?
I have baught 6 new diesel cars over my lifetime. Here is the list (as best as I can remember the years!
).
1979? VW Golf 4dr diesel 250k (I think it was the second body style)
1982? VW Jetta 2dr diesel 150k (I think that this was the first year of the crisp body lines.)
1985 VW Jetta 2dr diesel 300k (this one remember fer sure! Man, did this car work hard!)
1995 E-class 300k
2005 E-class 17k
2006 E-class 6k
About a MILLION kilometers and I NEVER, EVER had any engine breakdowns. As for the cost of maintaining them.....fogget about it! Just a religious obssesion with oil/filter changes.
Yes indeed, those smelly diesel fumes have infected my lungs and forever addicted the few brain cells I have!

I had a Rabbit Diesel for about 5 months... then I moved into an '84 GTI.. boy what a difference that was!
I honestly never would have considered a new diesel until the CDI.. I would love to own a clean 300 or 240D from about 1980-81 ideally, but those are a rare find!
