dieselpower

finally - we europeans get some recognition as well...

Eversince I got my driving license I have been driving diesels...
first one was a 1984 VW golf GTD that I owned for 4 years and 120.000km (320.000km when I "sold" it)
second one was a 1985 MB 190D that I owned for almost 4 years and 200.000km (500.000+km when I sold it)
third one was and still is a 1993 MB C250D that I bought 8 years ago with 125.000km and that has run 620.000+km right now (same engine - never even had the valve cover lifted)
fourth one was and still is a minivan, a 2004 MB Vito 109CDI (40.000km)
fifth and most recent one (bought it 1.5 months ago) is a 2001 MB C270CDI station with 100.000km

Diesels rule...

nope - NO most upgrade for me (don't see the benefit of it knowing how much time and money it will cost to do that conversion)

the car already came with regular xenons - so the bi xenons were already in before I took the car apart like this (couldn't stand the lok of the regular xenons so had to get that changed asap).

...nevertheless - the car will get quite a few extra mercedes options installed...at this moment it is slightly more apart then it was on these pictures (taken 1.5 weeks ago)...hopefully it will be a little bit more car-like after this weekend again.

I just saw your other thread and I will keep an eye on that one. Sorry for being MOST redundant! I just saw that you had no plans for that. Enjoy your project......Somehow I know that you will!

The car is UK dealer supply, used the Mercedes Customer collection offered to collect the New baby from Germany.
Thoroughly recommend it....

greetingz,
Did you drive my Renntech E320? I'm quite happy with Renntech's service, but I imagine they're not very well known in Europe, are they?

For Steve(Benz NL)

Steve, your prodigious mileage is impressive. What type of oil do you use and what is your oil change frequency?

just regular BP 10W40...and at the moment teh motor oil gets changed every 15.000km (approx 10.000 miles) and in the past I changed motoroil every 25.000 to 35.000km (back in teh days I drove 1500 to 3000km per week).
The 250D gets an easy start when it is cold and after that it just gets floored...aparently it can stand that quite well.

Transmission oil and differential oil gets changed every 50 to 60.000km...fuel filters get changed every 80.000 to 100.000km.

Steve any power boxes like Kleemann or Brabus makes(not for 2011 GL350 bluetec) out there in Europe that WILL work on a 2011 GL350 bluetec. Maybe some tuners out there are working little harder and came out with something already since the diesel market in Europe is much more evolved. Here Kleemann even states that on a 2011 bluetec the computer system is so advanced that they have not made nothing for it they say that if you put a power box in the system will know its there and bring all gains back to stock????
