Blowing white smoke

My 2005 E320CDI Started right up this morning and ran great until it warmed up a bit about two miles away they it started to blow white smoke out the exhaust pipe. I turned around drove home and took my 83 sd to work.

It has no check engine light and has plenty of coolant and I think oil. I do not really have a dip stick.

It is modified with an EGR emulator. EGR block off with SS plate. No Cat innards. Has about 180k miles.

EGR

I highly doubt that the EGR or Coolant Level are the Problem. Seems more like a clogged injector. Which is what I am leaning towards, except that I was thinking if it did that it would have gone into limp mode or at least set off the CEL.

Raw diesel

I think it smelled like raw diesel/oil. I will try to look at it on my day off. Its been days and I have not driven it and my mind is going: it is a bad injector it is a blown head gasket. The rings are seized up....

does it run like it's missing?
If it is then it maybe an injector.
Use a infrared thermometer and check temperatures at the exhaust manifold ports

White smoke, particularly soon after start up, sounds like incomplete combustion. I don't know your engine but I am guessing that it has glow plugs that stay on for a while after the light goes out to keep the smoke away until the engine warms up fully. Perhaps there is a problem with the glow plug circuit that keeps the preheat function from working. I would drive it until you know the engine is up to temp. and see if the smoke is still there. If it is gone, work on the glow plug preheat. If the smoke is still around I would check the injectors.

Start up

It is good on start up it is when it warms up that it gets smoky. I am leaning towards a blown head gasket.

Bad turbo/ Bearing

I started it up and it was rattling like it had a loose bracket on the exhaust side so I took off the air intake system and I gave the turbine a spin it spun real easy. Then I wiggled it and it moved around a lot. I pulled it out of the car this afternoon suggestions on where to get it rebuilt or purchase another one?

It sounds like a head gasket. It doesn't take very much liquid to cause the white smoke, and, you may not detect it for a while if you are looking at coolant level. Good luck and let us know what you find. Hopefully it will be the upper and not the lower head gasket if that proves to be the cause.

The Turbocharger needs to be rebuild there is a localish shop in Miami, That I might take it to on my day off. Or I can mail it off to the Midwest. I think it is to far gone for a rebuild kit (about $120) Maybe I can talk to the turbo rebuilders about upgrading it to make it more powerful. I always want more power but I hate my new boss and would like to get another job so I do not want to spend to much extra money on the car.
