I think we need to voice our opinions to the Hagens Berman Sobol LLP lawyers 1888 381-2889 or everyone should email to the main lawyer Steven W Berman with the current Email steve@hbsslaw.com otherwise we will never have any say into the Judgment and these guys will settle for 3000 per car. They need to push to buyback as an option for the car that will never be the same again.

Why? The only ones that are collecting money on this is the lawyers.....Doubtful we the owners will get anything, especially after court costs, legal fees, etc..... They have not admitted they have done anything wrong, and are just settling a court case. Many here are hoping that this will be like the VW case, but I am very doubtful. There were originally several law firms involved in the Class Action, but pretty much everyone(laywers) has dropped out, as they saw that their case was very very hard to prove. And as others have posted, the amount being settled for in the US means very little $ for the owners.

Looks like $3,500 per vehicle (different article)
Recall - The repair will consist of a software update and replacement of select hardware, which differs across models and model years.
Extended warranty on software and parts.
Daimler must repair at least 85 percent of the affected passenger cars within two years and at least 85 percent of the affected vans within three years.
Looks like our vehicles will need to be tested annually as well for 5-years

Interesting that also there are MAJOR fines per vehicle to mb if they deny warranty emissions claims to consumers. At least get to enjoy first class service for emission problems.

A little confused on some aspects
I am in Canada with a Canadian car
I know there has been no settlement in Canada
do I have to register with a law firm or wait for outcome then deal with Mercedes ?
thanks

My understanding is the settlement has nothing to do with Canada.

One thing I found interesting is that the settlement requires MB to repair at least 85% of cars within 2 years and vans within 3 years but it depends on the owners to turn their vehicles in. I wonder if there's not enough owner turn in and MB cannot meet the 85% requirement in time what is going to happen?

Where did you get this info? The law firm link above indicates the following:
Recently, the lawsuit culminated in a $700 million settlement for U.S. Mercedes owners in which current owners and lessees can get $3,290 or more, and former owners and lessees can get $822.50.

Previous owner's/lease claims are split if more than one. Also the $822.50 then, if claimed, is deducted from the current owner's claim for the $3290. That's what I got out of it. Wonder how this impacts the state AG lawsuits for fraud against MB - Arizona for instance.

Also of note, one of the articles (don't remember which) indicated that if MPG, vehicle performance, etc is impacted by the fix that the owner may be able to get compensated more.
I never expected any money, so everything in the article is a win for me. With the exception of the yearly visit to MB to check that the fix is still working. But, hopefully an oil change or multi-point inspection is included in that yearly visit; FOC of course.

How could they possibly enforce owners going to the dealer every year for 5 years for an annual checkup? I don't think that they will withhold any of the compensation upfront.
When I initially read that section I thought that it meant they had to test a sample of the vehicles to make sure the mods keep working as intended, not every vehicle modified.

I'm very skeptical of the warranty of the fix specifically on how MPG, performance, etc will needed to be proven especially as it relates to the fix and not something else. Also, skeptical of the fix itself that will not impact vehicle MPG, performance, etc. Why cheat in the first place? - for those exact reasons - operator/owner satisfaction.

There is a pretty heft fine for mb "per vehicle" for warranty denials of emissions. So will definitely will enjoy the royal treatment for any emissions problems
