2005 E320 cdi injection pump problems

Drive gear.
Lately there was on case in UK forum where bad fuel pump installation caused bent cam shaft
I brought this car (my second one) with a bad case of black death. So bad it had burnt through the injector wires on the first four injectors.
Didn't know if that could cause the pressures to spike and break the drive?
Also any links/pictures of others that have delt with this! Having real hard time finding any info on this?
My thoughts on the pressure caused failure were along the lines of hydro locking potentially if the return could not feed it back fast enough while the 4 injectors were shorted out.

Run your VIN at www.mbepc.net should get a list of all part numbers for you vehicle.

I still doubt over pressure in pump would have done it (relief valve opens in milliseconds), but pump itself can be seized. Or adapter broke and somehow bent the axle... IDK

It did scrape at the head a bit 😠
New gear installed
Back together
Installed the new gear and driver. Reassembled and it started right up! Now I just got to figure out a misfire on cylinder 1 for the first 5 minutes when the engines cold. Thanks so much for the feedback everyone!




For injector slight misfire, the BG cleaners help a lot, but at some point you might need new injector tip, or whole new thing.
