So there a tiny spring that is on the link between the swirl flap motor and the link rod.. I lost it. Can I just put the screw on without this? Or what else can I do besides deleting the swirl flap motor.

No spring example

Looks to me like rattle-preventing spring. Meaning all you risk is small rattle without it.
Than do you have ballpen with spring inside?

thank you guys but I found it and got it hooked back on! Was a pain but it’s done. Any diagrams For the engine.? Biggest mistake and regret was not being organized.

If the smoke stops within a minute that's nothing to worry about. Usually you will a small amount of oil or such things on the outer side of those parts during reassembly and that's the indication of it burning off. Make sure it's not leaking oil. Did you make sure you didn't touch the turbines during the operation? Also after assembly did you hand spin the turbine to make sure it spins freely with little resistance?

FCPEuro.com has a Oil cooler kit which includes all haskets, orings and seals including swirl motor and linkages for this job. Form my 2012 E350 cost was about $700 but it includes swirl falp motor Trubo stand (which i returned). But it is a complete kit to do the oil cooler repair.
