If I buy e250 bt... and It has NOT had this AEM warranty fix... am I entitled to the $3200 - when I buy the car-- make the Warranty claim- and get the AEM clean diesel modifications? In other words- if I buy a $20,000 car-- make claim- Pocket $3,200 -- and get the "Fix" + warranty?

anyone know who/where that $3,200 goes?

It is $3600 and if I read it right, the main portion will go to owner as of September 2020. Also warranty is AEM dependent, so you can't claim it before.
If PO make claims, they can get $800 out of it.
konigstiger quoted only part of setlement.
My E250 Bt went via EMC12 and all warranty is for full 4 years.

still confused-
1.) I buy unclaimed e250
2.) I decide to get the "Fix"
3.) ---PO would get???
4.) --- I would get??? any portion check$$$???

thx

To Add to this-- car is for sale at Dealer now. (NOT Fixed w/ MB AEM)--looked up VIN on MB Website

I don't know how this changes scenario- for me-- on how the $$$ go around-- assuming I buy/ and then take in for this AEM program

Looking for advice how to play this out-

Say I buy a non e250bt-- that has NOT had the AEM fix- for $18K from private party-
How soon/ or quickly will the MB website - disclose the "fix:" status-- I am trying to buy car -and basically pocket the $2,500 "Fix" + 4 year warranty.
I want to protect myself- and make sure I save that I get the $2,500 -- and the seller-- didn't get it fixed a week ago-- making me -- NOT eligible for the refund/claim.

Is there an Immediate-- "ON time/up to the minute" --MB USA status or lag-- will there be a Physical way for me to see on the spot-- of buying car- that the MOD has or has NOT been done???

thx

There are sites that shows vehicle eligible for AEM, but I would doubt their accuracy in showing AEM done. Call to a dealer should answer that.
$18k is high price for this model. It better be pristine.

There will be advisement labels affixed to the car after the AEM is installed. You can see them in the work orders that have been posted already by those that have had the AEMs done and the part code is 000-584-97-13. Google that and you'll see it's an "information label" which I assume will be posted conspicuously in the engine compartment, similar to timing belt replacement notifications that are often permanently affixed to engine compartments/components. Not sure if this label will be easily removable or not. Theoretically, you're looking to hoodwink someone out of their settlement money BUT, IRONICALLY, they could easily screw you out of that same amount. LOL Keep us posted!

I don't believe you are eligible for any cash payment, as you didn't own the car in 2020 when the settlement was agreed upon. I read that in one of the documents that you needed to be an owner by xx/xx/2020 to be eligible. I could be mistaken though. Don't have time to look for the document right now. Maybe someone else can chime in.

I quoted correct answer in reply #7
When the application ask for ownership in September 14, 2020, looks to me that is for cases when you can claim full $3600, Other owners will get partial payments.

Recently my 2015 GL350 started making some rattling noise for a couple seconds on cold start. The dealer 'warranty department' told me that it would take 2 hrs to diagnose and if it was the timing belt it would be under the AEM warranty - including diagnoses - but if it was the 'chain tensioner' then it would not be covered. Interesting and a little strange that the timing belt is covered but associated components are not. Also - if it is the chain - then wouldn't they have to replace the tensioner at the same time as the chain? I have not yet asked them if this was based on info from MBUSA.
The warranty states "Cylinder Head Assembly Components" and "Timing Chain" are covered. I read that to mean the tensioner \ adjuster would also be covered...

2012 Mercedes E350 Bluetec
Hello MartyRL. Did Mercedes replace your time chain under AEM extended warranty?
I have same issue with my 2012 E350 BlueTec it rattles a lot and I know it is a chain. I will be taking it to the dealer but wanted to know if anyone has timing chain replaced under AEM warranty..

Thank you

Yep - repaired under AEM warranty. The service department warned me that if it was the adjuster / tensioner it wasn't covered but if the chain was stretched then it was. They confirmed it was timing chain stretch (they have a tool that will push the chain to determine how much give it has).
