2006 E320 CDI
So, im upset with myself, 2006 e320 cdi, sat for 2 years, cant open trunk.

Yea, im so mad at myself. Sat outside, ran when parked.

Now trunk wont open, battery is dead, metal key turns left, handle acts like its not connected to the latch. Ironically my parts car trunk works perfectly. All my research says no jump point under hood. Thanks mercedes.

Im ok with destrying this trunk lid, ive come to terms with it, ill just mount the parts car trunk. I would like to exhaust all possibilities before that.

Can i access the battery cable on the starter if i jack it up?

Thanks all.

Not familiar with 2006 but to be clear so your hood (over the engine) wont open or is it the trunk (above rear wheels) that wont open? You should be able to pop the hood and charge the battery. Not exactly sure why you cant charge/change battery/jump vehicle.

Let me start off by saying i figured it out. But firstly the w211 has no trunk access if the battery is dead (in the trunk) and the metal key wont open it. So the answer "remove the battery and charge it" makes no sense. I could not access the trunk to remove it.

The 06 e320 has no dedicated underhood jump points.

Yes the car was open. I popped the hood.

Heres the answer. The fuse box on the left side (lhd) has a hidden lug in the back.

THIS IS NOT A JUMP POINT. This is purely to wake up the network. It was very difficult to clip a jump box clamp on it. I cut a smaller clamp of a set of jumper cables, stripped the wire back and connected my positive to there. The negative jump cable went to a lug on the suspension tower. I turned on the jump box, opened the drivers door and pulled the trunk switch, it worked.

Did you turn the trunk key and pushed the latch at the same time?
Sold W211 few years ago, but I still remember the big fuse box under the hood.
I would use it to hook up the charger. Jumping it for engine cranking might not be recommended.
Than if I remember it right, W211 has main power cables going under passenger foot carpet?
Once you open the trunk, check mechanical lock rods for disconnection.

Is the main battery in the trunk? Just curious as it sounds like such if ya cant jump it from under the hood. Never had one so dont know.

EDIT: Looked up the 211 style and what a odd design. Assume for battery life may be better but much more larger gage wire to go to the trunk and not having easy way to open trunk if dead battery seems like a poor engineering design. Ahh well hope ya got it figured out.

There is a small battery under the cabin filter in the engine hood. would a 12V charger connect to this help to get minimum functionality to work, including trunk opening?

What MY?
Aux battery in MB have different functions thru the years, but they usually are emergency battery, who is disconnected from main system in normal operation.
