Taking my wifes 2007 E320 Bluetec apart to fix the oil cooler leak I'm astounded by the amount of soot in the intake manifolds, heads, throttle body passages, EGR cooler and and EGR. At 170K miles in spite of all the soot it ran great and we would see 37 MPG on the highway and middle 20's around town. By the way, in my view, this job for the backyard mechanic is Mount Everest of maintenance jobs. I'll be cleaning soot all day today and will be putting it back together in the next few days. The Swirl flaps are really caked with soot and I'm considering removing them altogether and adding the 4.7K resistor. I should have left well enough alone.
Dirt can enter through cooler oil channels to crankcase, due to poor cleaning procedure...you can find here on forum a lot o information...most important subject ( to not be astonished one more time ) is crankshaft main bearing failure following oil cooler.
This is a cruel joke! If you click where it says "unavailable for store pickup why?" it says order on line or through the store. "Shipping" says unavailable and if you click there it says pick up in store.
Always wanted to use this stuff. Isn’t the application of it tricky?
I have it on my shelf for about 3 years and had to use fellow member help to get it as my local NAPA would not sell it.
But so far my diesels run perfect, so no motivation to play with it.
Application does require some work and doing homework, but I heard lot of good reviews about it.

It's been a while since I did anything on my OM642 and zero issues at around 96,000 miles done so far, since my new purchase back in 2007. I have a can of LIQUI MOLY; anyone have a photo of intake where this needs to go?
