MBWorld Fanatic!
A v6
350 you don't need an x-pipe a standard fab'd H-pipe made by any competent exhaust shop will work better. And cheaper.Secondary cat delete with the H-pipe installed as far forward as you can get.
Then go enjoy a nice run in 3rd gear on Sagtikos

I removed the rear cats and the resonator, and had a custom x-pipe put in, my E550 sounds amazing. I just wanted to know if did the right thing to the car because it sounds amazing but lacking a certain grumble i wanted

When i had my bmw 550i, e60, tons of people were looking to create a custom exhaust as the only options were RPI, Remus, RDSport, which were all quite expensive. And many were looking for a quad option as the stock e60 is single exhaust. A number of people ended up doing resonator deletes only to be disappointed with loss of HP, most likely from a decrease in back pressure. I remember reading countless threads on the boards about how these cars are factory tuned, including exhausts, and making them flow better not necessarily increased HP, even with heavy breathing V8's. Especially if you aren't high rev-ing and running in the upper RPM's where free flow exhaust would help. So the solution for many was making a custom Magnaflow setup. Keeping the stock resonators, I ended up switching the factory Y pipe, for an encased X pipe. Then I replaced the factory mufflers for round straight through mufflers/resonators. Parts were very reasonable at around 200 w/generic quad oval non staggered tips. Installation was the most at around 300 as it's all pretty much custom.
End of the day, granted it was a V8, a way better tone. At start up it definitely growled louder. It was a couple db louder throughout the RPM range, but nothing too noticeable. Where it stood out was WOT where it definitely wakes up and lets you know there's something back there. A couple fellows also dyno-ed before and after and saw a very slight increase in HP, anything beats losing HP like many did with reson-deletes.
I actually am somewhat impressed with the stock exhaust on the e550. It's pretty subdued when cruising around, but growls when you open it up. I guess it could be a little bit louder and deeper in the lower RPM's, but of course there's going to be some sort of drone associated with that. I know with my BMW it was around 1200-1400 when you were very slightly pulling the engine. I do hear some drone in my stock exhaust on the freeway, very slight, but I do imagine a custom exhaust making it more noticeable. I might try this custom set up, but I do enjoy the stock exhaust now. Maybe in a couple months, I'll do it. But just some info for those that are looking for other options rather than resonator deletes, or just X piping. Good luck fellas!

i need an advice my car is
MB 2010 E350 coupe v6(c207) my car is not a 350CGI but equipped with naturally aspirated 350 engine M272, so i was wondering if Kleemann Tubular Headers Mercedes SLK Class V6 M272 R171 04+ would fit my car? as far as i know it well fit but They need welding into OE down pipes, perhaps with small mods, any feed back?
