2012 E Coupe
hey everyone, okay so ive been reading this forum alot and i keep hearing "rumors" on the facelift for the 2012 e coupe...
so what im asking is does anyone have ACTUAL info that can be cited from a legit source? I am about to buy a car very soon (in july) and i want info on this new 2012 E coupe and i CANNOT FIND IT ANYWHERE online.
my biggest concern would be the new engine, and also the new interior that is offered on the C coupe. Anyone have legit info on if the engine will be the new one, as well as if the interior would be different (such as that new steering wheel, it looks sick!)
thanks

The answer is "No"
We are all eagerly awaiting news of the 2012 E.
There are some rumors and tons of speculation but no facts about the 2012 E.
Are you buying E350 or E550? If you are buying a 350 I would say wait until you hear what 2012 has to offer. If you are buying a 550 then I don't think it will matter much, the difference won't be much of a big deal. IMO

there's no full facelift, only the newer engines are available and couple of changes to the interior - some switches moved about, new screen in the center of the dials is the full color unit rather than the black & white screen, the CLS style steering wheel is in there too, think it gets the silver buttons too on the center console above the climate control

My local dealership have told me what is changing, Stop/Start function (may not get that in the US might just be a european thing) 7G Tronic Plus gearbox is to be fitted to all 2012 cars also getting the aux-in moved from the glovebox to the centre armrest binnacle.
2012 Model Year cars will be available from June 2011 production.

The steering wheel will be the CLS style wheel as I've already mentioned in an earlier post, the only new engines are the 350s, the new 350 CGI V6 petrol is the 306 hp engine and the 350CDI (Europe only I'd guess!) is the newer 265 hp engine.
Horizontal LEDs are to be fitted to the non-AMG bumper models as opposed to the two twin spot lights that are there at present. The "hockey stick" LEDs are to be retained for now, but if you're wanting to change them you can always pay extra and get a dealership to change them or buy the lights and do it yourself.
But to be fair I like my hockey stick LEDs anyway plus I've just had the Brabus D6 tuning done to mine and have new wheels waiting to be fitted just need some spacers so not really bothered about there being a slight revision to the range for 2012

they must not be very good then lol
the dealership (where I got both my cars from) told me all this when I asked them last week, they wanted to know whether I'd be interested in swapping my E-Class for a newer one as they had someone who was interested in my car and was wondering whether I'd consider selling it, would do a good deal on it too.. so I asked what the differences would be between the two model years, they showed me a print out that came from the MB-UK head office which comes directly from Germany obviously they couldn't let me have a copy of it so I just wrote a few things down. And no, as far as I know there is no new V8 just the new V6 engines.

On Mercedes's web site (mercedes.de) when ı want to configure coupe models, 250cgi seems that has 7 G-tronic and 350CDI has the new 265ps engine, 350CGI with 306ps but when ı look from model range's technical data 250cgi has not 7 G-tronic and 350CDI has 231ps , 350 CGI 292ps old engines.
Has Mercedes done these changes to these models ? which data is true ?

The new engines are a go for the 2012 E's...Go drive the 2011 CL 550 (it has the new engine albeit tuned with extra torque) and see if you like the way it drives; I wrote a full review of this a few months back.

RJC:
Can you post a link to your previously posted 2011 CLS550 review or provide a synopsis here please? Scanned the CLS Forum, but couldn't find it.
Waiting - not too patiently - for the 2012 E Coupe and the new engines.
Thanks,
Al

2011 E550 Coupe / 2009 BMW 325i Cabrio
I think the only change will be to have the new 4.7 L Twin turbo V8 which produce 402 Hp instead of the old 5.5 L Naturally aspirated V8 which produce 382 HP (20 Hp less).

VCruiser and all:
Thank you for your reply.
My main interest in reading what RJC wrote, since he has driven a model with the new engine, albeit the V8 model, was to see if there was commentary on the drivability of the new American version of Mercedes direct injection engines in general. I'm not very concerned about the features, what else is new in the car, etc. I fell in love (always a bad thing with cars) last year and I plan on ordering one no matter what - almost.
I understand the new engines will use star-stop technology and was just concerned that it was integrated seemlessly along with other changes that have been tailored to the U.S. fuel, etc. I would expect nothing less from MB, of course. I do realize the E350 would have the new V6 though, not the V8 in the CL550 RJC test drove.
Would also like to take this opportunity to say hello and a big thank you to all who have been on this forum before me and provided so much useful information.
I've been eavesdropping on the site ever since I put a deposit down on a 2010 E350 coupe last April, and discovered immediately thereafter that the 2012's would feature the new engines with increased power, performance and fuel economy. The dealer was kind enough to refund my deposit and withdraw my order. Have been waiting not so patiently ever since. My CLK, bought new, has been pampered for all of its less than 33,000 miles and runs truly like new (better now that's it's finally broken in), hence my patience.

Here's the link to my review, scroll to post #31 : https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...my-2012-a.html. I hope they engineered the extra noticable turbo hiss out of the 12's as it's not very befitting of an MB CL. It will be interesting to see just how many will like the turbo vs the NA v8 engine after driving it...
