2010 E-class Navi System
Been reading this forum for a long time and don't remember anyone complaining about the very limited street labels displayed in the Navi. It's almost impossible to see the names of intersecting streets coming up because so few are labeled - much fewer than my Lexus. Any information about Navi software updates that fix this shortcoming?

I have posted ablut this problem in this forum and in E63. The MB Navi is hopeless, but dont say that loudly here - or you won't be liked very much.
The Voice interface is another dud, but hey, Distronic Plus is great, as is the Blind Spot asssit (when it is working).

Depends what version of the COMAND software & maps you're running? I know there is at least V5.0 out in Europe which is pretty good, the roads aren't all named but when you move the crosshairs over the road with the rotary controller then it says the name of the road on the screen.
I don't have any issues with the voice controls either but then don't really use them for that much, but can totally agree with how people say that a tom tom will outperform it, I think it is awful considering how much MB charge for COMAND but cars built from April or May '10 in Europe you are entitled to free updates on it so not such a bad thing.

I have the lastest version (3D, etc.), and just did a 12hr non-stop road trip and it was flawless. Getting ready to head home tonight and have no reservations with it's capability...

Just go to your dealership and ask them to do the update, you may have a leaflet in and amongst the owner's manuals that states about the updates.

as i have option 1: "navigation system without inclusive licence for 3 years of map updates for Europe". in this case they INFORM you when updates come out, but u still gotta pay :-(

How about the user interface of MB Nav?
I drove a E class some times ago and found the Nav system quite difficult to use. No touch screen, I had to move the "mouse" along the keyboard and pushed in letter by letter.
How about the newer models?

Same interface on 2010 and 2011. I have no complaint with the mouse, it's OK. My complaint is still with the shortage of street labels in the display. If you're wanting to watch for a particular street name coming up, that won't work, most of the time. And there's plenty of room on the display because they are using a small font.

another question: it seems impossible to enter a LAT/LONG position into the GPS,
or am i missing something?
I have to go somewhere this weekend, and all i have is the GPS position,
as not real address exsists..

The navigation system in my 2012 E cabriolet has major flaws, not the least of which is that it doesn't give you any idea what's coming up ( as my Audi A5 did as well as my $300 Tom Tom) in terms of a visual clue about upcoming turns. No cross street labelling (pathetic), and, astoundingly, you cannot enter a zip code!!! Are you kidding me? There is no excuse for any of this after you pay a hefty sum for the navi option. My I phone does a better job and I rely on it more. Same with the TOM Tom.

I have a 2010 e550. If I update my maps will I have the same view as what you see on the 2012 models?
