help with kw coil install

hi everyone

right now my car is in the process of being lowered on the kw v1 coil overs. we just realized there's a sensor on the oem suspension. can anyone tell me what the sensor is for and will it effect my car in anyway once the coils are installed?

i have an e550 coupe btw.

thanks

is it standard one or sport adaptive?

It won't.
al least, there is no logic way, why it should be affected then.

Don't you have Dynamic suspension where you can select Sport or Comfort? I thought that comes standard with the E550 C.
I believe that's what the sensor is for.

Yes, this is what it for. but as he said he got standard one, so i suppose sensors are useless here, maybe they were installed in factory as a stock, if owner will decide to change suspension later on.

More research needed: I wouldn't trust a low-poster that hasn't completed the job or done a "how to" with great detail. Your best source of information would be the manufacturer of the product. But first, I would call your MB dealer/service with your VIN to find out exactly what you have as far as your suspension is concerned.

I don't believe that's the case. The Sport or Comfort settings are achieved by pushing a button in the cockpit and also the shocks adjust automatically based on the road surface and driving style. The E550 C's came with Dynamic suspension as part of the E550 package. http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/vehicl...le-performance
Scroll down to the section about the suspension and roll-over the Dynamic section; it will expand with more information.

Some owners opt to add aftermarket suspension, but to my knowledge most or all kits eliminate the possibility of having Dynamic/Sport/Comfort.
