got new wheels, need expert help????

after being told that these wheels and tires would fit my car I went and bought them. these are the wheels and tires i got. the tires are continental exrtreme contact dws, the wheels are AMGs from a 2013 SL550

FRONT WHEELS: 19 X 8.5" OFFSET 35.5MM, tire size 255 35 R19 96Y
PART# A231 401 1602.

REAR WHEELS: 19 X 9.5" OFFSET 48MM. tire size 285 30 R19 98Y
PART# A231 401 1702 W

THE WHEELS THAT CAME ON MY CAR AREnot that this matters any more)

FRONT WHEELS: 18 X 8.0" OFFSET 45MM. 235/40R18
REAR WHEELS: 18 X 8.5" OFFSET 49MM. 255/35/R18

well the rears fit with no issues at all, look real good.

the front has me concerned, the tire is so close to that "flange" that holds the spring i thought it was touching, but i was able to slide a piece of cardboard between the tire and the flange so its not touching. so then i had the little lady "bounce the front of the car up and down to see if it would touch, but the car moved up and down but the flange didnt. she is tiny and couldnt bounce it much so i dont know what would happen when i hit a big bump at speed.

when i had the car jacked up that flange was nowhere near the tire, but when i let it down the flange got closer and closer to the tire until it almost touched it, but not quite.

so my question is: if i hit a bump in the road will the tire rub that flange? i havent moved the car, the people who sold me the tires said they will change them out for me, so i dont want to risk rubbing them. a space isnt really an option, the tire would extend past the fender.

i attached pictures of the wheels on the car, and a picture showing the tire and flange to make it clear.

hopefully someone here can tell me if i should worry.

thanks in advance

first of all if i put a 5 mm spacer it the tire will stick out past the fender, and also the wheel will then only be attached with the bolts, not sitting on/around the hub like its supposed to?

No expert but here is my 2 cents,

Miky, I think that the 255's are a little aggressive for your setup. If you use a 245/35/19 on the front your overall diameter would be 7mm (.276in) less, that is 3mm (.138in) at the top. Also, you would be 10mm (.394in) less in tire width, that is 5mm (.197in) on the inside of the wheel which is the same as adding a 5mm spacer. You said that your tire guy would change them out so I would recommend the 245/35/19 tires and you should be okay.

Sportlineman, are you thinking about a 9.5 inch 35 offset wheel for the front??? I don't see any good coming of that ... why would you stretch a 245 on a 9.5 when it fits better on an 8.5 anyway. Not to mention the wheel would sit .5in inside Miky's current setup and poke an additional .5in outside the fender well. Just my opinion but I think that the 9.5 might be a little ambitious for a front wheel.

I have the same setup but with BBS CH-Rs, 40mm offset on the front and 45mm offset on the rear. Same tires. No rubbing issues.

Previously, I had a set of 45mm offset fronts that did cause some rubbing during hard cornering but not so much that it affected performance. It was just noisy. Trust me - if your setup is rubbing, you'll know it. Just take an interstate cloverleaf at about 9-tenths.

If you're still concerned, get in the wheel-well with a flashlight and look at the bottom of the strut plate. If it's not showing wear, then you're fine.
