2013 E 350 Cabrio (maybe soon)
Engine noise
I am looking to buy a 2013 E350 Cabrio with 26K miles. With the hood up I noticed sound coming from engine like bad lifters. I was told this is normal sound related to the injector pressure. True?

Mine was always noisy from brand new, especially compared to my Lexus, BMW, and Audi. I went it for an oil change and the tech heard it. Turns out there was a TSB for timing chain tensioners which were replaced. Still not as quiet as the other 3 but better.

The E350 does normally have a noticeable ticking sound, which very much sounds like bad lifters. This is normal and may quiet down a little bit after the car has warmed up a few minutes. It won't go away completely though. Just the way the E350's engine sounds due to the injectors.
Easiest way to see if it is louder or more pronounced than normal is to ask to start another E350 on the lot and open the hood. It will most likely be making the exact same sound as the car you're interested in.

2013 e350 Cabriolet
My 2013 e350 3.5L v6 cab is a ticker; more pronounced after I used 0w-40 Mobil 1 at my last oil change. Normal from what I have read and from the techs. With the top up, can't hear it, with the top down, I can only hear it with the radio off and idle. At any drive thru it is pronounced due to sound reflection. Louder at startup for the first few seconds.
