Racechip GTS Black 2018 E400 Coupe
Just installed the Racechip GTS Black and WOW !
They claimed a 67 HP and 69 torque increase.
I put the setting at the highest setting (7) and I would have to agree with those numbers.
While I have not, and don't intend to, dyno the car, my butt would say the increase claims are about right.
Much harder pull off the line. Have yet to take on freeway to see mid-range bump.
But really, much more fun to drive.
I previously had a 2014 E550 V8 coupe with 402 HP and 443 torque.
While this V6 bi-turbo doesn't quite have the grunt of that car, it is certainly a move up, with the Racechip installed, from the 329 HP 354 torque factory numbers.
The numbers would seem to change the figures to the E43 numbers. I'm sure they will have an E43 either next year or the following, so I just beat them to it.

The only "plans" for any AMG type nomenclature for the E-Class Coupe are currently focused on the E53. The E43, in addition to the E50 which replaced it, are all yesterdays news.

Dudley. When taking the car in for service the entire Racechip hookup will be removed. It will be returned to the stock setup.
As the Racechip circumvents the ECU, no changes to the car have been made.
It was really quite easy installing, and I'm sure just the same to restore to stock.
While it is a pain to do this, I don't anticipate servicing the car except maybe every 10,000 miles.

Hi Chris,
All components and connections are removed prior to warranty service. No known traces are recorded. Don't have any experience with other chips.
Racechip is very responsive as an engine mapping upgrade and as a company.
Good luck.

Hi Onnzo,
Each car is different. Mine was 2 connectors. Both easily installed and uninstalled. Takes about 5 minutes.
It is not connected to the ECU. It bypasses the ECU completely and feeds into the Racechip ECU.
When you have done the install once, it becomes a snap to install and uninstall next time.
They provide a picture of the locations and generic instructions. Very easy to follow.
Good luck. Great performance upgrade.

RS Race Chip
Hi all,
I am new to this forum and I am looking to use the RS Race Chip on my 2018 E400 to bump it up +57 HP as claimed in their site. Has anyone had any issues with this chip? Or the company for that matter? It seems to be a good setup since you can remove everything before taking the car for service. I would also like to know if one of the 6 settings in the RS model is for the exhaust and throttle sensitivity without having to go all the way to S+ mode.
If I get it, I will probably get it with the APP as well; it seems to have a bit more fine-tuning also.
Thanks for any information you can provide.
PJ

Hi PJ,
I have nothing but praise for the company and their product.
I can say that if you are unsure of the difference you will experience, get the throttle apparatus first. While horsepower is not increased, the responsiveness increase I found quite impressive.
After trying the throttle chip you will probably be wanting to get the engine chip. It can increase, with the optimal model of chip, horsepower by 67 to 396, as well as torque increase of 73 lb ft to 423 lb ft.
I am more than happy with the results. I turned both chips up to the highest level. It takes a little getting used to the increase in responsiveness, but it is a pleasant learning period.
Good luck. I don't think you will be disappointed with either of the products. The throttle chip you can leave on when taking the car to the dealer as there is no change in the engine. The engine chip you may want to remove when servicing, but it really only takes 2 minutes to remove and then put back on later.
Enjoy.

Hi Runmkm,
Thanks for your feedback, I will take it into account when making my decision. I am going to wait a couple of months as I am working on the chrome delete; do not like chrome and this car has plenty of in all places
Also, I need to get my head around this 'tuning' and the warranty. I need to make sure I am at peace with that scenario.
I think the throttle response system is a bit overkill since the Sports (or even Sports+) mode has a fairly nice feeling already.
Thanks again,
PJ

The short answer is "unknowable". I have spoken with many techs at Mercedes and they seem fine with the set-up and honoring the warranty.
Probably depends on your relationship with the dealer.
