Rear wheel 18x9 et54

I have a 2014 e550 coupe. I would like to keep the 18 inch staggered AMG 5-spoke option 660 wheels, but need a wider tire on the rear for more traction. Can I use the same 5-spoke 18x9 et 54 wheel that is an option on the rear of the coupe with a 275 or 285 tire? Anyone doing this? Would I need a spacer?

I have read several wheel and tire fitment questions posted on this forum, with no answers. I have this same issue, a new to me 2013 E550, about to get a Renntech tune, and these stock 255's are already inadequate with stock power. Would like to keep the stock 18's for ride quality, but just get rid of all seasons and go with a max performance Michelin stepping up to 245's in front and a 275 or even 285's in rear for more traction. I have seen a post suggesting the E550 sedan's 9" rear wheel, part number A2124013702 is an option, but it seems like alot of extra offset to go to a 54 from a stock 48. Anyone done this? I would consider AMG 19's, but the cool ones (C63S and E63S) with the center cap that covers the lugs (centerlock look) are very expensive and probably won't fit anyway.

PLEASE, experts, chime in here!

I went ahead and purchased two AMG 5-spoke wheels (18x9 et 54 from a sedan owner) and mounted 285/35's on the rear. Moved rear wheels to the front and mounted them with 255/40's. I also used 10mm spacers all around, so effectively et 44 on the rear and et 39 on the front. I didn't do anything with the suspension. Feels the wheel wheels nicely, and looks great, handles great as well. No rubbing or rear tires getting loose on acceleration.

Thank you for responding! Did you have to do spacers to make them fit on front and rear, or did you choose to do that for the look you wanted? I would like to avoid using spacers if at all possible. I would be okay with a 245 in front on the stock 8" rim to avoid spacers instead of using the rear rims on the front, and going with a 275 or 285 on the 9" rims, whatever fits without rubbing (without spacers).

I went with H&R spacers and it was primarily to bring the wheels flusher to the fender and to ensure I had front brake clearance. i din't try forgoing the spacers. I was a bit apprehensive using spacers, but honestly 10 mm isn't that much and I didn't notice any difference in ride quality. I did purchase longer wheel lug bolts to account for the spacers.

The 18x9 ET54 will fit fine in the rear without a spacer, and will sit the same distance from the body. The +6mm offset makes up the difference in wheel width so that the extra 1/2" goes towards the shock (which is no problem as far as fitment).

That would be great, because I would really like to avoid spacers if possible. I understand that the consensus for the C207 is that front wheels should have an offset between 35-40, and the rears should be 42-48, so I was concerned about the 54 in the rear fitting. I figured that if I am going to install 10mm spacers in the rear, the other option I would really like is a set of C63 AMG wheels, 19" x 8.5 in front, ET39 and 19 x 9.5" rear ET56. I assumed I would need the 10 mm rear spacers which would bring the effective offset down to 46, which is well within the specified acceptable fitment range. Ideally, I would like to run 255's in front and 285's in rear, but I can do 245's in front and/or 275's in rear if necessary to avoid fitment issues. No plans to lower the car now, but I would like to preserve the option to put H&R springs on in the future without rubbing. I hope that I am not asking too much!

For what it's worth, there are no spacers needed with a 19x9.5" ET56 rear wheel. I found a set of factory AMG C63S 19's and they fit nicely with 245/35's and 275/30's. I wanted 255/35's and 285/30's, but Michelin does not make a 285/30 in a Pilot Sport 4S, only in the older Super Sports, so I figured I would wait and maybe by the time these tires wear out Michelin will offer a 285/30R19 in the PS4S.

@Cobra27 do you remember what size (length) wheel lug bolts you ended up using for this? I'm about to do the exact same thing to my car.

Also, 3 years down the line, have you had any issues with running this size of wheels and tires, along with spacers?
