Exclamation E350 Cabrio I HEAR WATER SOUND

Help. I have a 2014 E350 Cabriolet. Recently while traveling, my car sat outside and there was a heavy rainstrom. Now when I turn the car a certain way, I hear the sound of water moving around....Although there is no water in the cabin or trunk. Any ideas? Thanks

It could be in one of your doors.. If your drain holes are clogged the water will stay at the bottom.
Second I think the roof seals at the top has a drain along side of the front top of the door frame. Water also drains along that tube to the bottom behind the front wheels. You will see drain holes there as well. They also could be blocked a bit...
Cheers

I second water in the doors. Gets there by going past the rubber seal on the side window and stays there when the drain holes are blocked. Easy to fix.

It most probably is the side sills especially if you have the optional sports package with AMG body work. Mine had that issue and there are drain plugs which get clogged with road sand and debris.

Common issue is for the side skirts to fill up.

Water in sills, not doors. Keep plugs removed?

The cause is water in the sills, not doors. Common problem. Gets in since the convertible seals on the top and windows are not perfect. Undo the screws in the four jacking points and the water flows out.

To remove the plugs I had to pry out with a pointed metal tool as screwdrivers didn't seem to work. You have to pull and pry out while trying to turn the plug with a short and wide screwdriver in the slot. Eventually it will come out a little then you can pull on it with your fingers while turning the plug and trying not to press too hard in case you push it back in. I got three out undamaged but the forth one's slot was too beaten up to use.

My question is why bother to put them back in? What harm is there in leaviing them out so the sills can not only drain immediately water enters, but air out too?

Hello. I was able to pull mine out..tons of water came out. That was in 2019. I’ve never put them back in, and everything’s fine...I’ve never heard the water again. Thank you!

Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for replying. Good to know that nothing bad is likely to happen if I leave the plugs out. I'll do the same!
