2011 E550 Coupe Facelift Project

Hey guys got a 2011 E550 coupe with 61k miles. Got a great deal paid 5200 USD, it has front end damage but its limited to the tip of the hood which is very minor, the body shop said they will fix it. I need to buy the front bumper complete which I found locally. I need help with the facelift front headlights. I dont care for the full led headlights. This is going to be a daily driver to put 20 25k miles a year on and do not want to any of the crazy optioned headlights as they serve no purpose to me. I was told for the 2014 there are halgon headlights that are plug and play into the 2012s as they have only led drl and halogan bulbs. Is this true and does anyone have the correct part number for me to order it? Thanks guys.

The questions you are asking show you are not inclined to do this job. Just put the car back together as is and enjoy. This isn't an s13 or an Acura Integra where you can just jdm swap the front end.

Your talking about a world of headaches to swap over to a front end that is already outdated.

Hello thank you for your opinion but it would be nicer to give some info or some insight instead of telling someone they as they are not capable of something. I didnt get I responce from the forum for a few days so I got to some searching. This isn't my first rodeo. I have facelifted a 2008 Sl550 with the 09+ style including a complete color change that involved taking apart the top and putting it back together in a state where it still worked. I am capable of working on a car and have owed a total of 30 plus cars. I have already bought a pair of full led headlights for 1600 dollars alongside a star diagnostic computer. I went ahead and purchased a ckm adapter kit for the front so that I dont have to change the sams' or the wires. The kit includes headlight wiring adaptor kit and mobile coding. I have also purchased a rear tailights from ckm that doesnt require the sams' to be changed so a majority of my issues are solved. The bodywork is something that is simple as can be. Purchased a black series style hood as mine had some repairable damage but I preferred the look of the new hood. Also purchased a complete sport package front bumper in black 040 color code from a local wrecker so that I dont have to even paint the bumper and it came with the factory grill. Will upload pics as I start to receive some parts. Shipping to the u.s and clearing customs takes a week or two. The purpose of this project was that I purchased the vehicle for basically 5k with 60k miles. I'm looking at roughly 11k to complete the project start to finish that includes the purchase price of the vehicle and registration. That is a steal considering in Los angeles 2011 E550 Coupes with more than 60 70k miles are going for 17k depending on mileage and 2014 cars without all the bells and whistles still cost more than 25k. I can daily this car for 2-3 years and sell at the 100k mark and still get 10-12k which in turn for me means a free car for 3 years instead of spending 22k on a 3 year lease or financing one for 25k and in 3 years selling for 15k and loosing 10k over 3 years. It makes absolute sense to me to still do this conversion as I still get to enjoy the updated and in my opinion much better looking front end. Thank you again.

I am truly impressed... Your first post was you talking about the body shop told you they can fix your mangled hood. Now, you ARE the body shop and you are rebuilding a F Type. In only 5 days!

I'm proud of you.

Did you find the *part numbers* you needed?

As far as the shop goes, I keep it humble, I own 2 automotive based businesses in the Los Angeles area, doesn't mean I have to say I do, its cool to just keep it humble, when I said the body shop said they can fix it, I meant the metal workers said they can fix it. Heres an example of the work the metal workers did on my 2009 W221. Ignore the stance of the vehicle as the airmatic system went all crazy after the impact and it was completely changed afterward. In this picture, the bodywork was done to the side of the vehicle and it was painted but the front end bumper was sagging as we had an ongoing insurance claim with the tow company who towed the car and was not careful and caught up the front bumper and pulled it causing a lot of fitment issues and its truly a shame because this was close to a 15k Brabus T-65S body kit.

nd we do have some truly amazing people working.

Sorry lol what's that mean? Didnt catch the meaning.

As far as parts go, I found this supplier through a friend and they are based out of Dubai. The kit is $1450 plus shipping which should be $500- 700 to Los Angeles. The kits are made from polypropylene, not polyurethane like a majority of the amg style facelift kits so they should be of even better quality which is great news as I have personally seen alot of polyurethane kits locally that fit just like OEM. but at that price point, I will take a gamble.

The headlights are on the way, I just have to wait for CKM to send me the adaptor kits and module for the headlights and their facelifted taillights that are plug and play with the non-faclifted cars. I will upload pictures as this progresses. The next step should be the longest as we are now just waiting for parts to come in from Sweden and Dubai which could take a little bit of time. I have attached the link for the headlights converter kit and taillights alongside the bodykit just in case someone else could find them of some help.
