Disassembling a coupe seat back

Hello all.
I’m trying to fix a range of motion issue for my seat back. It’s a w212 2014 e350 coupe.
the coupes have a weird plastic seat back that i can’t remove and im afraid to break the plastic. Any ideas?

I'm thinking i might have to take that seat fold handle off first. theres really no indication of where the clips might be, or which way to pry them.
my ultimate goal is to get at the seat back tilt.
the passenger seat will tilt all the way forward to the point where it crushes you, but the driver seat only tilts forward to a certain point where your still kind of leaned back.
i hate being so far away from the steering wheel.

so im stuck on a step "release mounts, arrows k from catch hooks arrows n"
it doesnt exactly say how im supposed to release these clips.
can i get in there with a pry bar, and maybe apply lateral pressure?
anybody done this one yet?

put a spudger on both sides.
then a pry bar in the middle.
then outward pressure.

Praise Kek i figured it out.
so the seat back has a motor that has 4 poles in it, 2 of those poles are for the motor, and 2 are for a resolver.
when the motor turns a certain amount of revolutions, it hits that resolver limit and stops.
the passenger seat hits this limit very close to 90 degrees, like 91-93 degrees.
but my driver seat would only lean up about 60 degrees (maddening, i know)
so i took the frame apart, took and tested it it stopped at 60
took the angle limit sensor out, and insured it hadnt actually engaged at 60 degrees, it hadnt.
completely removed the angle limit sensor so it would stay at 45 degrees, and tried moving the seat. the seat stopped at 60 degrees like before with no sensor input from the limit switch.
took the hinge apart and inspected it for debris. nothing
took the motor out of the frame, and twisted the drive shaft manually. and the seat moved to 90 degrees.
put the seat back, plugged it back in and moved the motor up, and it stopped on its own.
took the motor gearbox apart and checked for debris in the gears, nothing.
pulled the gears out entirely, and ran the motor with no gears, just the naked worm, and it stopped.
ran it in the other direction, and it ran until i got bored.
ran it back, and it stopped.

next steps:
im going to mark the output shaft on the gearbox, and count revolutions to be sure my theory is correct, then
im gonna assemble the motor at its resolver set limit, into a seat set at 91-93 degrees like the passenger.
then assemble the seat in the reverse order.

all said and done, it looks like im going to come out on top.
but for F#ck Sake Hans, why so much engineering?
2 days on this god forsaken seat.
my wife misses me.

i learned a thing!
the seat motor will let you turn in infinite revolutions in the "seat back" direction, but only 4.25 turns in the seat forward direction.
i didnt see a "seat back" limiter switch either, only forward.
this might mean its possible to tilt your seat so far back, that it never goes "all the way" forward until you take it apart.

i have had this seat out once to detail under it. its not impossible that i leaned it back so far, but i doubt it.
i will keep assembling, and testing as i go to try and prevent this uncomfortable phenomenon again.

reassembled the motor and limiters, marked the shaft and counted revolutions. its 3.25 from lock to lock.
this means it wasnt me that effed up the seat, it was ****ing Hans at the factory.
fixed now. reassembling. i am the champion of the world.
and konigstiger saved me maybe a day and a half trying to figure out disassembly. thanks again man.

So I have the exact same issue as described.
The electric motor is inside the seat? Is there any easier way of dealing with this situation?

The motors are in fact in the seat. I sold this car over a year ago, but I still remember disassembly was very fiddly. Don’t force the top of the cover around the headrest area. There’s a couple of hidden screws. My upholsterer ended up breaking those screws when they reupholstered the seat and that’s why I sold the car.

but yeah bro. My seat worked great when i got it back together

What is the problem here in the first place? Seat is not reclining to proper angles? Have you tried doing the reset hack before dismantling your seat? If you have not done that....ooops! I would sit down first, clear your area so that you cannot throw things around have a few cold cans of beer ready and do some search on this and read that thread. Have a calm mind and be ready to **** yourself on how easy it is to do the reset before going banana on the tear down.

Do a search as I posted a solution for this. It is very easy to do a rest. You do not have to do a tear down like the OP. Just felt sorry for the OP he sold his car just because he broke something in the process.

No i got it working albeit the hard way.
I thought there might have been a reset but back when I posted this thread I wasn’t able to find anything like it.

i had the car reupholstered about a year later, and the upholsterer broke the screws.
I got decent money for it and I enjoye the truck that I replaced it with so don’t cry for me☺️
