E Class C207 Double Din Head Unit

Afternoon all, looking forward to picking up my MB E Class Coupe tomorrow - MY 13 C207. First ever MB.

I took out my Pinoeer Avic Z810 DAB Head Unit (with Apple Carplay) from my Ford Focus before i sold it and would like to install it in the new car using the Connect2 Kit again (MB06). Has anyone done this before - I have installed these a few times before on other cars but help appreciated. Also, are any of the cars settings/features run off the OEM display - conscious i will lose these?

Thank you

I'm not sure what the COMAND / audio setup is like in a 2013 model, but my car has the Harman Kardon Logic7 premium audio system and it is very integrated into the COMAND interface. There are some physical switches (i.e., Radio, Media, Navi, Phone, etc.), but the main controller is a rotary turn/push knob, the results of which are displayed in the integrated dash screen; there is no dedicated "stereo system" screen or faceplate.

Which factory audio system is in your car?

Thank you. I think officially its referred to as NTG 4.5. Those buttons can/will all be replaced by a new fascia which are readily available. It was more around if the screen is used for anything besides radio/nav e.g. suspension setup or something as i would lose them

I believe that's the version of COMAND. If the tweeters mounted on the doors near the side mirrors don't have "Harman Kardon" grills on them, then you have the base audio system.

they don’t. So it’s the base audio model. Back to my question is there anything else that is controlled by the display besides radio/audio/nav

Off the top of my head, the telephone, address book/contacts list, some trip data (e.g., fuel consumption figures), and devices played via the Media option (e.g., my entire music library is on a 32GB USB drive that lives in the center console). Also, if you have Voice Command, it will sometimes ask you to verify your request by telling it which option displayed on the screen is the one you want. There may be more, but that's all I can think of right now.

MikeSpike,

Did you ever complete this radio swap? Love to see how it turned out. Do you now have 2 LCD screens?

I'm looking at adding the Naviks unit to keep it stock and add wireless Apple CarPlay as well as other features.

Big compromise is if you want to use the Car Play / Android Auto feature for nav and then the radio / CD player at the same time you can't as the stereo has to be put into Aux input to work.

The replacement Android screen units are a better overall solution as you can do both at the same time (no real need for screen sharing though as the HU can natively run the apps).

I know I can Google it, but is there a specific source or brand for this swap for a 2011 E550 with NTG4.0? Thanks!

The company that were behind the ones that came from Chris was Carlife-Mall.

The latest version on their website for the W207 is at https://www.carlife-mall.net/product...oupe-w207-g4l/

There are various suppliers of them, but I believe these were involved in the software development side of them.

RoadTop are a fairly well known Chinese OEM branding company of Android head units, the one you have linked to is a generation older though.

I'm not sure they make the current generation for the 2011 E coupe/cab. I emailed them to see which one fits. The 2011 and 2013 use the same trim piece that goes over the factory display so maybe the newer version will work.

The mount plate for the screen is identical across both the pre and facelift models (and OEM screen size). The wiring loom is also generic in the main, you just have some parts to swap out depending on which NGT version you have.

So hopefully it should not be an issue for a 2011 (NGT4 I assume) model.

The current version is just an update really, faster processor, more memory, higher resolution screen and rounded edges on the case. Whether the Android version really is newer I haven't looked into. The last update prior to this was actually just the same version with the buildprop updated to make it register as a later version than it was (it was still Android 8 mimicking 9), so it may be the same for the version 10.

I would make sure as an absolute minimum you have 4Gb RAM and 32Gb storage, 6 and 64 or above would be better.

Thanks Stu. Yes, I have NTG4.0. I'd like the latest version and plan to buy the one with the most RAM and Storage.

I just ordered the 10.25" screen with 8G+256G unit. Hoping it arrives in a reasonable amount of time. I'll try to document the installation.

EDIT: The company emailed me that the G4L does not come in 8/256 but 6/128 for NA cars. They have a G4F that does and has other updates over the G4L. I went with the G4F.
