I recently bought a 2011 E550 Cabriolet for under $30k.
Compared to the v4 nissans I have owned, this thing is on a whole different level.
I don't drive "that" crazy, but I like to accelerate fast from a stop on straightaways. With sport mode on this car sounds (and moves) like a legit rocket ship. I have still yet to beat in a dragrace.
I thought I would never drive a car without a sunroof, but the drop-top is so awesome.
The air scarf, cooled seats, nice glassy actual wood trim, shifter knob, and steering wheel... just SO much nicer than "normal cars" that feel like cheap fisher price toys with an engine thrown into them.
And it's black exterior, black leather interior. the hottest color of course!
Just the overall look of body, hood, and back is so perfect- it's like if 2008 Megan fox was turned into a car. 😍
I honestly feel bad for all the suckers who get scammed into basically paying the same price after taxes and fees for a brand new chevy malibu or toyota corolla. LMAO 😂
If I had to mention anything that I don't love about this car, it would be:
1. No heated steering wheel. I think the later models have this, but I don't see anything there on mine...
2. The seat cushions. I get that it's a "racing car", but yeah I kinda feel like I can race perfectly fine in nice cushiony, comfortable seats... imo they are just unnecessarily rock hard.
But yes overall I absolutely love this car, and with only around 40k miles I'll easily be enjoying this masterpiece machine for a good 10 years at least.
Couldn't agree more with your post! My 2013 E550 coupe is the finest car I've owned! I just wish I could have found a Mars Red on like my beloved 2000 CLK430!

Reason: spelling
Welcome to the club, Jim. I'm in a cabrio too and felt exactly the same about the seats at first. I had been torn between coupe and cabrio, and a coupe I drove had the higher end leather (I forgot what it's called) and the car just felt more comfortable and luxurious. After putting on 5k miles I realized the seats really do grow on you and they're good. Hopefully you have the same experience.
I just purchased a 2012 white E350 cab on a whim. I didn’t need a new car but I did wanna convertible and was tired of my Z4 which was a nightmare. Anyways I love this vehicle and I just get so excited every time I get to drive it

You are exactly right I say the same thing why by Nissan when you can roll a Mercedes perhaps a bit older and have the drive of your life!

You folks are joking, right? Why buy a dependable, fuel efficient new car?. When you can own an 11 year old, gas guzzler that will cost a fortune to fix. Just so you can be first to the next light. While I certainly like nice cars, I would never say anything bad about someone who chooses to go another way. Except move over.

For context a bit older meant 1-5 years older. Next Mercedes aren’t gas guzzlers and are in fact highly dependable cars. The intent is not to say anything bad about someone. I would not do that. But rather I always question the utility of buying something luxury vs non luxury.

I know you will probably ignore this but, for the record, I was referring to OP who apparently felt bad for folks who buy new Corollas as opposed to the 2011 E550.
