E350 gear shift issue
Greetings, new member asking a question for my sister who purchased an 2014 E350 coupe. She states that she sees the gear shift in the instrument cluster. So, when she puts the car in D (drive automatic) instead of just seeing D, she sees D2, D3, etc as it changes gear and it remains visible as she drives. She has taken it to MB dealer and they stated it working properly. Is it normal to see the the gear shift in the instrument cluster or should the D remain with out the gear number?

Yes, it is standard for the instCluster to display which Drive gear is currently selected at all time.
A usual shift complaint is hard downshifts from 4th -> 3rd gear. Best thing to do is the 50k tranny oil/strainer service. This effectively dumps a lot of the clutch material circulating with ATF.
