Model year changes

I lost my 2013 E550 Cab in the Hurricanes here in Florida and flooding. I am looking to replace it perhaps with a slightly newer model. I know that there was a slight refresh in 2014 with a new dash and moving the transmission lever console to the steering wheel. Anything else improved in later years until they got rid of the V8? I really like the V8 and difference in model years look minor to me.

The Mercedes engine from 2012-2017 is the Twin Turbo V-8, also known as the M278 engine. 2012-2013 are pre-face lift body version of the vehicle, 2014-2017 is the facelift version. There are no spec updates or performance differences that I am aware between these years and was the last years the V-8 TT was offered for an E-class Coupe in USA.

Thanks.

Yes, I pretty much knew all that. I guess I was wondering more about things such as lighting updates or changes to the radio / Command.

It’s known that 2014-2017 has different front head lights and tail lights. It’s also an updated Command system with larger screen as well. I don’t think anything changed in actual functionality. Here is a comparison of the two model years. It’s showing a E350 sedan version but for the most part same aesthetic updates apply to the E550 Coupe.

Personally I feel the 2012-2013 E550 Coupe with Twin Turbo is the classic E-class and best model years for this body style. I always loved the quad headlight look over the newer MB headlight styles.

I have a 2014 V6 coupe & if I did it again, I'd find a 2015 or newer in order to get the updated Comand with the larger screen.

From the photo it looks like you have the larger screen. I understood that 2014-2017 have same command screen size and system. It's the 2010-2013 that have the smaller screen.

Dare I say…size is in the eye of the beholder? 😅 anyways, I have a ‘14 with same screen and consider it a bit tiny too, at least by modern standards

I feel like the 2012 I have is the perfect screen size. I don't want to be looking at more screens. If I did I'd go to costco and buy a new OLED 😆

Just the right size and makes me feel the cockpit is balanced.
