Talking Memory seats

Do you guys have to keep the buttons pressed in order for the seat to move all the way to the memorized set up? I am asking because in the BMW I had before, you just had to press the button once and the seat would move all the way vice having to hold the button... which is a little annoying... So that's my excuse to not let my wife drive

Press the memory seat button and release. The seat moves to the preset position. There is no need to hold the button. The memory seat in my former C400 required you to press and hold the button. That was annoying. I’m glad Mercedes finally fixed that. Now if they could only connect the key FOB to the seat memory system so that when you use your key to open the car, the seat would automatically move to the preset position.

I don't think that is correct
I tried to press and release the button today, it doesn't work like this. You should hold it pressed
I drive E450 coupe 2019, but maybe E53 has different option

In the E53 pressing and releasing the memory button moves the seat to the desired pre-programmed position. Before an E53 was available to test drive, I drove an E450 Cabriolet to get a feel for the size of the car. The memory seat on that E450 Cab worked the same way, press and release the button to move the seat. Having come from a car that required a press and hold, I saw that as a big improvement. I hoped that the E53 would work the same way and was pleased to find out that it does. Try pressing the button a split second longer. I have pressed and released the button too quickly to activate the seat movement.

I have the 2019 E450 Cab and can confirm that it takes but a single press of the button to activate fully the memory seat and steering wheel function. No holding necessary.

I have a E400 Coupe 2018 and I have to maintain the button pressed... Maybe that's a new feature for the 2019 cars? Can anyone with a 2018 E400 confirm this?
Thanks guys!

I have a MY '18 E 400 Cab. You need to keep the memory button depressed until it reaches its set position. When you think about, holding the button could be a safety issue. If a preset took you too close to the steering wheel, for instance, a person could be squeezed between the seat and the wheel inadvertently. Just a thought.

Before my first Benz I owned various Lexus’ for many years. All allowed a push and release to operate the seat memory function. In 2014 when I got my first Benz home I thought the seat memory was broken because it required a push and hold to operate the memory function. I soon found out that it was operating as designed. I always found it to be an inconvenience. To stop a moving seat in the Benz, all you have to do is press a memory button or any seat adjustment button. I activate my seat memory as I’m getting in the car. By the time I sit down the seat is nearly in the proper position.

I use the memory button after my wife has used the car, otherwise I can't get in.

So, when I open the door and press the button just once, nothing happens.

Somebody once suggested a double-click and this has worked several times but not always and I can't understand why.

Holding the button down works every time.

I tried to push it once and it works fine for me. But you should make not a slight push but a little longer and than release.

There was another thread on this and it was determined that all the newer 2019 models had one push memory, whereas most of the earlier year models did not.
