Opinions on choice..

So, I currently own a 2018 C238 E400 coupe, with 17,000kms on it.
My local dealership called me and told me they have a 2017 C63s Coupe with 30,000kms coming in that they would basically trade straight up for my E400.

Would you guys do it? Opinions? If yes, why? If no, why?

Thanks guys, I'm kind of torn with what to do....

Cheers
M

I guess it depends what your objectives are. Certainly the C63 S will outperform the E 400 at the limits. It won't be as comfortable, roomy or luxurious. The C63 S is a real "hot rod". The E 400 is quick and nimble and a good cruiser. Certainly more comfortable but a darnn good performer. Best of luck with your decision. Can't see where you can really go wrong with either choice.

If you are looking for a more performance centric ride, then you should test drive the C63S and see if it meets your needs. What is it about your current E400 that you find lacking, that you are considering a change? Nothing wrong with either model. It just depends on what you want from a DD.

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess I am wanting a bit more more power. I do definitley enjoy the interior and perhaps even look of the E400, but I am lacking a bit of power I feel. My wife drives a 2019 C43 coupe which I enjoy due to the power. Not as drastic a difference obviously as the 63.

How about tuning my E? Had that been done successfully with significant gains?

Again, thanks for your replies. Much appreciated.

If you're happy with your car but just want a bit more power, then a OBD2 tune would seem the better route than swapping out the whole vehicle for another you haven't even looked at the service history yet. Just a thought. From scanning this forum and others, it seems most, if not all, the MB tuners are offering a OBD2 option these days. Took them long enough to crack the encryption code.

Unless you plan on tracking your car regularly and thus need a AMG that's designed for that type of use, I would think a simple tune would meet your needs better.

Why exactly do you want more power? Try putting your E400C in Sport or Sport+ mode instead.

Yeah, I hear you Judge - but I've always enjoyed some more bottom end torque that was the stock E400 provides.

Will an OBD2 chip make a significant difference? Same as an ECU tune/remap?

Doing a tune via either the OBD2 port or pulling out the ECU and sending it to the tuner of your choice for a bench flash accomplishes the exact same result in performance. The advantage to doing it via the OBD2 port is that it allows you to revert to the stock tune on your own before taking the car in for service, state vehicle emission testing or simply troubleshooting any suspected problem on your car. There are ample threads on this forum and others that have significant information, both positive and negative, about each of the major tuners out there that handle MB vehicles. Hope this clarifies things a bit.

I have an E class convertible and got a C class convertible loaner ... Never ever I'll switch, even the C class has 1000hp and they offer additional 10k cash.

2019 C63S
The new Corvette looks spectacular from every angle, except maybe the back. I would consider swapping my ‘19 C63S with a Vette but I’d hold out for the Z06 version.
