Headlight Control Unit Part Delay
Hi All,
I recently purchased a brand new 2021 E450 Coupe that was a custom order.
Within less than a month the left headlight stopped working and I got error saying check left low beam, I took it to the dealer they said they need to replace the headlight control unit but the part is estimated to arrive end of the month.
They gave me a loaner but I am very pissed as it’s a brand new car and I did not even use it for a month.
Couple of questions:
1. Can I trust the dealer to keep my car with them for 30 days? Will any of the service people use my car for personal errands?
2. Can I ask them to give back my car while also keep the loaner until the part arrives?
3. Can I escalate to any executives? Would that help?

i had same problem. parts(!) took a month to arrive. other electronic issues found as well. other electronic parts replaced. headlights work (i think) but some other electronic bugs remain; door doesn't unlock with touch all the time, hi beam can be flashed but doesn't go on when the stalk is left in always on position. there may be other issues but i haven't noticed them yet.
as long as the world wide electronics supply is inadequate there will be delays in repairs. everything on this car is electronic.

You can probably get your car back. No night driving though.
Parts are going to be a problem for awhile.

I don't think anything will happen if you leave your car for 30 days. The only problem would be the quality of the service station where you left it. I would recommend trusting official Mercedes service stations. When I bought the 5th wheel pin box I repaired the car myself because I don't trust the local service stations.In case you know how or like to repair it yourselfIn case you know how or like to repair your car yourself, then this is the only option. For me this is the only option, because before I had my car repaired in the service station in my town and the guys did very poorly. I had to redo everything they did. And I paid them a lot of money for the work.
