Just bought a 2018 E400 Cabriolet
Traded in our 1999 SL 500 after 18.5 years of owning that one.
12,800 Km on the odometer - has been driven only by a VIP client & MB sales manager.
We took the extended bumper to bumper warranty - coveting us out to 2026.
From our experience with our 2011 E550 … these cars are expensive to fix.
Really enjoying the Intelligent Drive / Distronic / Active safety features.

They did their own inspection for the extended warranty MB provided … but no PDI (is that a Pre Delivery Inspection?) paperwork for us.

Just curious... as I intend to keep my 2019 E450 cab for at least 18 years as well... If you don't mind me asking, how many miles did you have on your SL and what did they give you for trade in? Just curious as to where the depreciation levels out or possibly starts to actually begin appreciating again.

Apparently the used market for R129s is on the rise.
Our 1999 SL 500 had 155,000 miles on her. So not really collectable condition - or rare in any way.
Still got compliments on a regular basis.
They initially only offered $ 5,000 for the SL and refused to budge … we walked away figuring to drive her 2 more years. They felt pressure to make a end of June sale - called back a day later and upped the trade in value to $ 10,000 CDN which I thought was fair.
The E Class was loaded and was a good price compared to another in the area.
