Curiosity: Delivery of E450 Cabs
Just curious if anyone on the forum has taken delivery of a new E450 Cabriolet in the past couple of months? Or has a deliver confirmed for the next couple of months? From what my dealer is telling me this A238 is becoming a rare vehicle. Thanks in advance.

Didn't exactly order an E450 cabriolet but I am still waiting for an allocation for a 2022 E450 coupe here in Canada. E53 will be even more rare. To answer your question, yes the A238 and the C238 is also becoming more rare because MB is discontinuing them both (hopefully only doing so after the end of this generation and not in the middle of it, the facelift just happened last year as a MY21) and merging (possibly) the C coupe and convertibles with the E coupe and convertibles in order to create a CLE (but that is just rumours at this point, although very likely that will happen).

Glad you asked that question. I have an E450 cab on order from Mercedes of Nashville. However, as of today they still had not gotten their allotment for a cabriolet. So in reality I am merely on a wait list. I am number one on the list but no one seems to know when there will be an actual allotment and an order placed. I was curious if anyone around the country had an order placed other than being on a wait list.
Of course then there is the question of how long production and shipping will take. Oh well, still enjoying the 2014 E350 cab.

MB GLS450
I have a 2022 E450 Cab on order through MB of Atlanta Northeast. Order placed in April, with production originally scheduled for July, then moved to early Sept. then on to early Oct., and now first week of November. My salesman, who is a 30-year veteran, assures me the car is on the production schedule rather than just a wait list. Chip shortages abound, so we shall see.

E450 Cabrio
I just placed an order for an E450 cabrio a week ago from Benzel Busch Mercedes here in NJ. I was told to expect a 9 to 12 month wait. It could even become a MY23 car. Allocations could come through sooner but I won’t be expecting any miracles. If what was said above is true and these cars are being discontinued - that would truly be a disappointment. Is that confirmed these cars are heading for extinction?

E450 Cabrio
Sedans are low volume sellers but Coupe and Cabrio are even lower volume sellers in the Mercedes lineup in North America, unfortunately. The majority of the sales are SUVs now. North Americans (includes USA and Canada) just loves SUVs, so naturally MB is focusing on that. It is unclear if a successor to the E sedan (the would be W214) is coming out either (hopefully though) but the E coupe and cabriolet after the current generation is indeed on the chopping block. No hope is lost though since there is a chance a CLE (basically a merger of the C and E) is planned but as for if it is coming to North America, not quite sure.

Most interesting, and thanks for the responses. Summary shows no deliveries, some orders placed, but not confirmed in the build schedule. As noted above, the auto experts project a CLE replacement for the E and C cabs, likely next year; until then it will be fascinating to see how many E450 cabs are actually delivered. My friend who is a MB dealer has two in the order bank at the moment with no confirmed build date, and have only received one A238 in this calendar year; he stated that his used car guy is having a difficult time finding 2019 ~ 2020 cabs in a price range that would allow resale.

I was going to order an E450 cabriolet in March. Decided to go with the C300 cabriolet instead. Glad I did. I have my car. Looks like I would still be waiting for the E.

I just received a FedEx envelope with a check from my dealer for the deposit on my E450A4 Cab without any explanation as to why!! This car was on order sense Dec 2019. The MB dealership was recently sold and I hope there just cleaning there books. Not the best way to be conducting business, expected a lot more from MB here. Can anyone shed any light on the 2022 model here, are they building these cars or are they discontinue this model.

mdsisk, wow, that is not encouraging in the least. To not have the courteousness to even call and discuss this is unconscionable! Dealership sale or no, as a Mercedes customer, I would certainly not appreciate being treated in this manner. I might suggest you vent a bit via a letter to Mercedes Benz NA, not that it will change the circumstances, however it will expose the rather unprofessional manner that this dealer chose to pursue. Sad on so many levels.

I have another dealer in RI that said he has allocation on a E450A4 Convertible March with a delivery in April. Do you think this car (The Motor Trend Car of the Year 2021) is worth the wait again. This is my first MB car, and always wanted one. Were also looking at a BMW 840i now as well. Thanks for your input ..

E450 Cabrio
I hope that is an accurate delivery date for your sake. I ordered mine on October 11 and the dealer said ‘don’t be surprised if this becomes a 2023 model’. Except there doesn’t appear to be any hope for a 2023 model since the speculated CLE is apparently coming in 2023 to replace the C an E coupe/cab. I’m still hopeful myself that MB fills my order. If not, I’ll trawl the used car listings if my order gets cancelled and maybe opt for an E53 in certified used form and be done with it.
