Lease buy option exercised

Called MBFS and had them FedEx the documents required, filled out & returned the forms with an online payment to buy out the lease on my 2019 E450 cabriolet. Normally I would not do this and I’d be looking forward to taking delivery of a new ride which has been standard operating procedure for the last 20 years until the current situation. I only have 23,000 miles on the car after three years so I’m still under warranty for another 12 months, hopefully by then the supply out of balance will have normalized if not I’ll keep driving this car I just happen to like it.

Thanks for sharing, for curiosity's sake, it was a smooth and easy process right? What was the turnaround time? Glad you don't have to go through the dealership because if I were to ever lease and then decide to buyout a vehicle at the end, I would need to deal with the dealership instead.

Mercedes-Benz financial services sent me the forms FedEx and included a FedEx return at no additional cost to me. I filled out the required forms and returned then submitted the lease payoff electronically which showed up in my online account transaction history 48 hours later. I’m awaiting title which should take a few weeks otherwise this is a much better process than going to the dealership and spending considerable time on a simple transaction.

For sure, but here where I live the dealership is in charge of the whole process (unless it changed recently to follow MBUSA), thankfully MBFS never held any interest towards my vehicle so I don't have this process to deal with but I still very much glad to hear how everything was smooth for you though. Thank you for sharing your experience with me and other members on this forum.

I have a lease on an 2019 E53 Cab that I have to end a couple months early to buy another car (leaving the Mercedes family for a while but I’m sure I’ll be back for some EQ model in the future!) I was at the dealer for service and asked them about it. The dealer said they would buy it and pay off the lease. They figured it out and I will net $7000. Not the OP’s situation at all, but I wanted to share this. This is my first lease so maybe you experienced guys knew about this but I was really surprised. I expected it would cost me a lot to turn it in early and there was no alternative.

EQ
Yeah normally you would be asked to pay off the remainder of the lease plus the disposition fee. Unless you stayed with MB, then they forgive up to six months of lease payments to roll you into another MB. Congrats on making out ahead and best of luck with your new purchase.

Take a look at prices on 2019 e53 cabs and I think you’ll find it’s beneficial for you to buy the car and then sell it privately. In my case I’ll spend $46,000 exercising the purchase clause at lease end and I can easily sell this car privately for $60,000, the Mercedes dealership offered me $58,000 which I declined.

60K sounds very conservative. They said they’d pay me 66k for the car and payoff the 59k on my lease. They basically used the KBB auction price. I could probably do better using your suggestion but I can’t tie up the 59k right now.
