WTB: W123 Coupe 230CE
Looking for a W123 coupe prefer non diesel. I was talking to a forum member through PM this summer about his black coupe but I lost his user name. It was a black 230CE that was in good shape and he told me that its been in his storage for awhile now and was going to bring it back to life. If anyone knows the member please let me know. Thank You

No harm reviving this older thread... so on that note, it's still true indeed... look at the nicely restored and/or original pristine ones one ebay (usually Cali-based 300CD's), and fine ones sell over 10K and up to or near the the 20k ceiling every now & then. W123 300CD's (Turbodiesel versions) are highly sought after due to their collectibility and desirability now. Increasing classic car status helps too for these W123s.

300CD Values
They're all over So. Cal. and can be picked up quite cheaply if you're willing to clean up a nice one that's filthy ~
I was looking at one in Hawthorne Ca. on a side street , straight as an arrow with the Mandarin Red paint failing , I thought about banging on a few doors after it sat undriven for two or three years (cobwebs etc.) then perchance I saw it on craigslist for cheap , called and asked if it was the one on 115th St. , yes it was , I'll be right over with ca$h in hand , it only had 60,000 original miles and still had the becker AM/FM radio playing...
I now drive it daily and am the third owner .
I'd not sell it for anything but I don't think they're overly valuable I know of an '83 300CD with Oriental red paint that's not running in the desert..
$150.00 , will prolly need an engine as the DPO left the rocker box off for a couple years now .
The 6 cylinder W-123 Coupes use the M-110 engine , it's a DOHC unit that simply _SCREAMS_ , too bad they didn't import the stick shift ones to the U.S.A.
Old threads are cool ~ .

Many cheap 123's out there... even coupes, gas or diesels. But with the coupes, keep in mind to restore one in & out in nice shape would not be cheap at all. For example and in fact, just replacing the weatherstrip rubbers and gaskets all around would set you back a kool grand and a half at least... using OEM parts. Coupe-specific parts are made in lesser quantities when compared to sedan parts... and we all know that most if not all C123's out there need new weatherstrips, seals, and rubber.... that's just the beginning!

Coupe Restoration
You're not kidding ! .
OTOH , if you shop around there's lots of good deals , I got OEM grommets for the windshield and backlight , $35.00 each by hunting the Internet sales .
New shaded windshield $100.00 .
The aluminum bright trims however , are $pendy beyond imagination although dealers are tossing them in the trash for lack of sales....
Dealer " Hard Parts " so far are actually pretty affordable
Certainly if you buy an old Mercedes for a ' Hobby Car ' you won't get much dollar value .
If you find a nice rust free one and can do the routine Mtce. on it your ownself , then they're posatively CHEAP to run and they're much nicer than any modern beercan sh*tbox to drive , even in the rain
