New to W123, a question?
Like to introduce myself..just got a 1982 300dt and am really enjoying bombing around in it. Turning out the Alda a full turn really makes it so much more drivable. I've got most of the vacuum issues sorted out....it now shuts off with the key, there is vacuum to the tranny modulator etc. I was wondering if someone could tell me how to get the cover off the Garrett wastegate actuator. I spent about an hour with little screwdrivers trying to catch the end of the cover spring. No luck. Is it easier to remove the turbo and do it on the bench? Also, I've heard it said that one could remove the vacuum lines to the valvecover 3/2 valves. Is the only thing they control the EGR valve? Mine is gone anyway. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

So far I have not read of anyone removing the Waste Gate. But, you may find that information at the Superturbo diesel website.
If the info is not there start a thread with the same question.
Yes, that little Valve Cover Valves only control the EGR on your year and model.

All I'm trying to do is turn up the boost a couple of psi. I heard that if you can get the cover off the boost controller, you can turn the shaft out 3 full turns for more boost. Just kinda cramped down there to start unwinding the slinky like spring that holds the cover on.
Good to hear that all those valves do is control the EGR. I'm definitly going to remove them to clean up the clutter and reduce linkage drag a little. Thanks.

They get them on eBay for around $9-13 dollars.
You can adjust the pressure that the valve opens at.
The trick is that in order to adjust the pressure you need to have at least a temp gauge hooked up.
Before you buy any valve you might hook up your gauge and clamp off the Hose going to the waste gate and go for a drive and see what type of Boost your Turbo will put out.
Drive it just long enough to find out the info.

I have a 230E 1986 automatic transmission. The gears don't kick over from drive.
I drained the gearbox oil. Now I am looking to clean the gearbox filter. Where is the filter. I did not see it in the sump. Is it that round nut next to the plastic vacuum adjuster? The oil that came out was dirty.
Where is the filter. I hope it works after I clean the filter and replace the oil with ATF. Do I need to use a special oil?
