Amp Wiring location

I am planning a new stereo in my 95 E 320. Where is a good slot to get power from the battery to the trunk.

Thanks

Do you know that your old AMP is located right behind the cluster? ....but as to your question I have know idea. But for this project I would definitely consider this:

ex 300E driver
Well,

When I had my subs installed in my 300E, the installer routed the wires from the passenger side. I think the drivers side is not adequate to run wires through. He went under the glove box and found a hole in the firewall and pushed the wires through. He then went under the hood and retrieved them. The guy then reboved the passenger side door sill and tucked the wires under the carpet, he then removed the rear seat bottom and got the wires under the gas tank. After that the routing was complete.

Hope this helps.

The only Amp I knew of was the one in the trunk, is there another? Crutchfield told me the Head powers the speakers and the amp is picked up off of the front speakers for the door subs. True? I am not real sure.

Running the power wire under the tank was exactly what I was looking for the the passenger firewall.

Thanks Guys

from what i recall 5 years ago when i had my stereo redone it had 2 amps. 1 behind the dash and 1 in the trunk.

here is a pic of my current setup in the trunk. now i just had it redone for its 2nd time in 5 years. this time i went pioneer 7700 an arc sub with mb quart components and mb quart in the rear tray, the sony es amps are from the install 5 years ago along with the amp enclosure. i didnt replace the amps because they are fine. the head unit was replaced because i wanted my dell dj 20 to hook up with as little fuss as possible. keep in mind i used to have a sony cdx 760 head unit and a 10 disc changer which was in the trunk.

now the installers pulled a 4 or 8 gauge wire from the front of the car (where the battery is) to the inside of the amp enclosure. there is a huge fuse next to that battery and a distribution block in the amp enclosure..

one thing to not this is in a '93 124 coupe and i can still fit 2 80cu ft dive tanks and all the dive gear for 2.

anyhow the safeest bet for a NEW install is to pull a nice big power cable. amps draw a lot of juice and never never skimp on the power wire. just think if your battery cables were 24 gauge.

i would take more atm but its raining. maybe tomorrow if it stops raining.

the sub pops thru the emergency tray. its an arc free air sub. its mounted to 3/4 carpeted mdf. it will rattle in the back a bit if u really run a lot of power to it. i guess the only way to solve that is dynamat.

1) u cant put a non-free air sub where mine is
2) pretty good if u like your teeth rattled out of ur mandible
3) much better then a non-free air sub that is not in a sub box
4) you will lose a lot of trunk space to a sub that requires a box

losing trunk space depnds on what size box and how big of a woofer.

I have a 12" JL audio in a small 13" cube box and it sounds great and doesn't take up too much space. this is simply a temporary solution for me until I rewire the car and build my amp rack and custom box for the sub....

I can still fit my golf clubs in the trunk so thats all that matters to me.

Your install is clean on your coupe, which is like the red version of my car just about.

ok i was taking shots of my HID conversion so i figured why not shoot a few shots of my sub.

close up view of how sub is mounted in trunk

a shot from in the car looking at the emergency kit tray. i had to lift it up with a stuffed animal so no bad jokes pls.

pic of the sub with the etray lifted up

and a final shot thru my back window that just happens to be tinted pretty dark.

Well I got the Kenwood from Crutchfield, they supplied the antenna adapter and wireing harness free. I then purchased the MTX amp and sub combo. I must say that even behind the tank it really thumps. I have a hole $480.00 in the entire package. The only drawback is the wireing is a trip.

1 hole to the battery goes up the passenger kick panel.

2. had to remove the carpet, rear seat and losen the back of the rear seat. There is a hole behind the left rear seat by your shoulder to run the wires to the trunk.....I then took the wires under the back seat then through the black plastic channel from the rear seat to the passenger floor pan.

Getting the wireing from front to back was the hard job, however it does show how well and tight our cars are put together. I would suggest this package to anybody who wants good sound.....bass and budget.

I used the factory hole in the firewall just behind the ecm..........fished it down through the passenger kick panel then went into the passenger footwell through the stock plastic channed from the footwell to the backseat where the vac pump is. then up to the upper left hole in the trunk behind the seat back and boom ya done.
