The TV's are a nice touch, what size are they?

I had TV's (flush mounted) in the headrests of my first 300E. That was about 2 years ago, I got a ton of attention

I like the color of your car, but get rid of the E500 badge. That W124 is No E500, the fenders are not flared, and the front bumpers have no foglights. Debadge the car, for a cleaner look.

Overall, its a nice car! Keep it clean.

W124's
That's not a 500E to begin with huh?

Hmm...I noticed that some model W124's had speakers on the door panel. Does anyone know where I can obtain those for my doors so I can have more than...4 speakers.

Thumbs up Nice Ride

Very nice! Have to agree about the E500 badging going away, however. I had three of the 124s (four if you count one wagon). Loved them all. After a time I gave them to my kids. The last one just passed away under another car on the 405 in Los Angeles (following too close and not paying attention). Great cars and built like tanks!

Cops can and have pulled people over for the euro plate, even if it has the same numbers as the U.S. plate. Happened to me. Was fine for almost 2 years with the euro plate, then one night cop pulled me over just for the plate and gave me a ticket.

So now I have the Us plate over the euro plater, I hate the us plate, but at least I wont get a ticket.

People have giving me Sh*t for doing the same thing US plate over the Euro, but it beats getting hassled and worrying about getting pulled over.

Yeah, you gotta love the fact that Florida only requires the rear plate.

was it just a fix-it ticket? or was their a $fine$ involved? i was thinking of installing a euro plate.

Most of the time it's a fix-it ticket. I have gotten 4 total since 95 for missing front plate. All depends on the cops also. I was fine for like 4 years then one morning BOOM, pull over. .

I dont care tho, i dont like the way front plates look. Making me a custom plate out of the bumper plate area filler i got from germany. With some nice looking indiglo lighting hopefully.

I like that color on the 124's. Not too many solid colors to choose from anymore.

Are you going to do the springs yourself? If so are you experienced? I thought I was until I got into it and ended up having to buy a spring compressor made just for MB's. Nothing else would work, and I had one wrestled off so couldn't drive it to a shop. List price on the tool was $1,400. Luckily I found a deal for $900. What a great tool! Did both fronts in about an hour. Let me know if you need this, I'll rent it.

Noticed the front euro number plate. I have a factory blank that can be used if one does not require a front plate. It's dark grey, so would need painting.

Danholm, out of curiousity...why did you buy a spring compressor? Over here you can simply rent one. Unless you do a lot of work with your car and among other mercedes then I would understand.

E320BENZ, did you ever get any shocks to go along with those springs?

I'm sure SoCal has more resources than my location. I bought a compressor because I couldn't locate a rental, and with a couple 124's as well as my father's, figured it would get used, and could allways sell it.

As for mod's, I wanted to stay OEM, and didn't want to experiment. Wagons have the Sportline sway bars and bushings, as well as self leveling rear. I put Sportline springs and shocks up front, tweaked the level in the rear, 17X7.5 wheels from a 2003 CL500. Can't get OEM sportline rear springs because of the self leveling feature. You can adjust the ride height, so it will balance the lowered front, and it does stiffen up a bit. Changed the whole feel of the car. Just right for my driving. I'll post pics when I get to it.

Hot pockets

I can’t believe you did all of that work and you have not bothered to fix the MB TEX that is peeling on both of the your front door pockets. Doesn’t it drive you crazy to see that peeling vinyl?

Mine was fine on my 1995 E320 until the summer of 2000. I was parked at an amusement park, the temperature went up to almost 100 degrees, and when I returned to the car my pockets were peeling. I had my sun visor in the front window, but I didn’t have any windows cracked to keep the temperature down.

Because of a previous experience with a Jetta sunroof, I chose not to use traditional auto upholstery type glues for the job. I had the Jetta sunroof repaired by a professional and the heat would always liquefy the glue that they used to repair the upholstery on the interior of the sunroof. The fabric would just peel off all over again and it was always a gooey mess.

I used super glue gel and I carefully clamped the edges down with binder clips from a business supply store. You can get the clips in all different sizes so that you can match the contours of the lip of the pocket. You just have to be careful not to tear the vinyl with the clamps and you have to be careful not to glue the clamps to the vinyl. The glue did make th edges of the vinyl a little crunchy after it dried, but the glue has held for 5 years, with no problems in extreme heat.

If you can install video screens in your headrests, you should be able to fix your door pockets. Don’t you think it looks terrible, in an otherwise nicely cared for vehicle?

No peeling pockets for me
