Gas Pedal Broke

So basically, as you all know...I went to the Newport Beach cruise last weekend and we did a lot of driving and crazy driving at that.

During this my gas pedal broke. It broke where the upper back of the pedal hooks onto the gas pedal bar, it's that plastic round piece behind the pedal.

Anyways, I was wondering if I needed to replace it in order to purchase the SLK pedals and could people give me more information about the installation on the SLK Pedals, I know Alon has them so perhaps you can give me some ideas and insight. Right now I'm just driving with the bar!

Here are the pictures I promised.

Waiting for my sister to come home with my camera so I can post the pictures. Then maybe others will know what I'm talking about.

Wouldn't matter. It feels fine driving without the pedal right now.

I'm just awaiting Alon's reply.

ok well 2 things.

1. You need the stock pedal

2. to install the slk pedals, you take the cover off your oem pedal and off the slk pedal, and slip it onto your existing pedal. I cut about 1/2" to 3/4" off my pedal so the slk pedal would fit on nicer. I cut it off the top part of my pedal if I remember correctly

You should be able to get a new oem pedal for cheap.

Same thing happened to me. I just bought a new pedal from Mercedes dealer. It was cheap and they had it in stock.

Yeah, the SLK pedals are quite inexpensive. I did the research and you're looking at about 40 to 50 bucks for the brake and accelerator (covers). The foot brake however you'll have to scavenge off a later model SL (R129), I think. Just tell the parts guy at Mercedes its for a 2000 SLK automatic and it should fit up. Don't bother with the dismantlers because they'll charge way more than what new ones cost and sometimes they'll be lazy and won't even check to see if they have any. *******s!

you can get the parking brake from an 05 c class as well. the r230sl parking brake can also be used but it has oval rubber and the c class has round rubber
