"Better to replace the stock "brick" style convertor with a high flow spun metal unit such as made by Magnaflow.
You might want to also remove your center silencer and just run the rear unit.
This will give you a slight improvement in performance while maintaining your state emissions requirement. "

for wheels, i think the type 14 would look the best by far, followed by the type 16 (strip would play off the color of your car). i don't care for any of the others even a little bit, they are too fancy looking for our cars

I see what you are saying Zed, our cars seem to like a beefy rim like the Aero I/IIs, but then again, those are nigh on impossible to get, and maaaad expensive. And lets be honest, I cant afford to do that :P The Type 16 look like they might work on my car, but I think I would have to back them up with a slammed drop, and a nice brake kit. This should happen eventually, but this means they really wont look nice until my car is good and finished (if/when that ever happens). The MD5s are really nice, I agree, they look like they might work on my car, but I am concerned about the weight of the rim. My car really cant afford to be any slower . I am quite tempted by the Rial Ravennas, I am not sure why. They just strike me as being very attractive, same with the Borbet LS rims, but someone on here already has those . I wanna do something a little different with my CE.
Ugh, why does this stuff have to be so hard? I want to see these rims in person, I think that would give me a better idea if they could work on my car. But where to do this?

Hey! I have a passion for DAPs (Digital Audio Players) as well as cars, and so I purchased an old Olympus M:robe MR-500i off ebay with the hopes that I could mount it in my car to carry my whole music collection with me & play over the AUX-in to my head-unit. This failed for a few reasons, mostly being the sheer size of the M:robe. It would not fit where I want it to (in the ash-tray area) without a *****-load of modifications.

So here goes, I have a favor to ask of anyone that is willing to help me out. I'm considering getting a 32gb Creative Zen (http://reviews.cnet.com/mp3-players/...ml?tag=box4505) for use in my car. It measures thusly: 3.3 inches (width) by 2.1 inches (height) by 0.4 inch (depth). Would this fit in the ash-tray area in our cars with relative ease? I don't smoke, and never will, nor will I allow smoking in my car, so the loss of the ash-tray is a non-issue. I don't however want to lose the wood cover to the ash-tray if possible. So yeah, if someone could look and see if something of that size would fit please let me know! When I get home in 2 weeks I will measure myself, but I'd like to know in advance so I can jump on any good deals if they present themselves.

Thanks a ton guys!

So, I don't think I have enough money to get new rims right now as I believe I need either a new cat or a new muffler (car sounds like a civic with a fart-can), but I was thinking of repairing/painting my stockies when my friend is going to do the same to his rims on his TC. Here are some (poor) mock-ups of the general idea I was going for. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!

[It does not show well in the image, but I plan to keep the star on the center-cap silver as well as the very outer lip on the rims, and the red portion is body color, or as close as I can get it.]

Edit: Minor tweak to the close-up. I realized when looking at the rim that it'd be nigh on impossible to have it black on the lip inside the 15-holes, so I made that whole section red like the hole spokes.

Thanks!

I've always been partial to Iron Man's color combo.

Could you try a photo shop with the gold/bergundy colors on that wheel?

Tried two more combos quickly. I will try to get that done tomorrow RHW, but getting a good gold color is proving to be very difficult for me right now, maybe tomorrow will be different.

Don't forget the quality .....

Hi Fellah,

It seems like you're on the verge of changing your stock rims for something more cool to look at.

But you have a problem. Limited cash.

And I quite understand and have the same problem myself.

So, if you change your rims, you are most unlikely to be able to afford anything close to the quality of your original rims. You will land up with some cheap chrome/bling/whatever rubbish in place of a set of high grade alloy rims.

Many aftermarket rims are heavier than standard so the advantage of alloy is compromised.

The best suggestion I've seen is what you are now proposing - paint the originals.

That way they look revolting but no more so than the cheap aftermarket jobs. And the original quality lives on!

The ideal compromise.

All the very best with your tastey motor.

Here's some working shots of the new rims (courtesy of RHW) and my newly painted calipers. Thoughts?

Aw crap, lugs are too long on the rear for these rims so the car was completely locked >_<

Oh well, rolling on new front rims and old stockies for the rear for right now lol. Car looks... interesting...

You may have been completely locked against the rear internal, parking brake.

Darn, have to drive the 500E.

Just put my 5 spoke 17s on the Cab,
they look...fun.

Is it just a lug length issue?

Yeah, just dropped 50$ for 10 w210 lugs from the dealer. Same ****. They dont lock as hard now, but they are still too long.

STLe, what lugs are you using to not have any lock on the rear drum brake? Please help a noobie -_-

Thanks for the compliments guys! I really liked them, but I liked being able to drive my car more so I have them in the trunk right now waiting for me to find the proper lugs.

As far as I know ATL, lowering springs/shocks are not good to use with the rear suspension the wagon has. I'd see if another member knows more, but that's whats coming to mind.
