Speedometer Picz... American Autobahn!

The fastest i've gone is 135mph on the FasTrak. Got a ticket for going 100mph once, when I was actually going around 120mph (the CHP was cool and said if he put 101 mph or higher I would instantly lose my license)... but I don't have any pics. Have you turned your freeway into an American Autobahn for a little while?

I did actually...I took the ol' gurl down to 115mph heading towards billerica on route 93N.

115 felt like I was 75, the benz was so comfortable at that speed that I couldn't feel a thing!

It is a little dangerous to be taking picz while driving 100+ mph, but I did it a couple years ago while going 115 in my '98 Chrysler Concorde, and that car was a POS! I sold it to my friend after owning it for 3 years, and he spun it out and totalled it in less then a week!

[The funny thing is, 6 months later, he was following my 300E in his Focus, and I hit the gas hard on the 5 Frwy on ramp... I looked in my rearview mirror, and watched him do the same thing, until he spun out, AGAIN, and was stopped mid-spin when his rear bumper hit the median! Fun times!! Luckily it was 3am, so no other cars were present. Of course, he totalled another car. So this is why you should never buy a FWD car, they suck!!]

Yea and that should also teach us to drive safely and keep speeds at their legal limits.

I once followed a porche cayenne on 287.. when I finally looked down at my speedo i was going 125mph... Then I decided it was time to get back down to 65 so I didnt lose my license three weeks into having it
Oh, that was also the last time Ive ever gone more than 25 over the speed limit

I took my car to about 141-143MPH. Let's just say I don't plan on doing that again anytime soon. I literally watched my gas decreased dramatically. lol

Haha, your such a boston lib... your frwy's suck, big dig, big nothing! You should come out here in OC where we have miles of open road to speed almost as much as you want(and I'm not talking 100+, You can't do that everyday), as long as it's not during rush hour! SoCal drivers are nutz! If your going 65mph, you may end up getting flipped off or cut off. Everybody travels about an average speed of 75-80.

What's your highest speed limit out there, 40? Here we got a nice little strip of road known as Antonio, where the limit is 65! And the lowest point is 50mph! (Even though it does intersect America's deadliest highway, Ortega Highway 74) Plus, I know CHP officers (the house I'm living at right now I'm actually renting from the Assistant to the Chief of the California Highway Patrol. Yeah, *******g pig has a fat house!), and they say when I'm on the FasTrack, they won't pull me over unless I am going faster then 85mph!

My mom actually has a '02 S-Type Jag... Took that baby 155mph on the 5 frwy in San Clemente @ 4am. Soooo, nutz, I am never doing that again either, even though the British lady took it wonderfully! Or maybe I should say American Baby, but I hate Ford! If I'm getting anything American, it's going to be a Chevy or a Caddy! <= I love to trail off the subject, don't I?

lots of cars
I did the most dangerous speeding in the world and that's driving on the 710 freeway between the 5 and the 105...Trust me, if you drive down here you'll know what i mean..I was going 125mph till my suspension was feeling like it was going to jump out....

I know no one can beat me in the 6th street exit in long beach...I've beaten a mustang, 350z, hondas, camaros,etc... it's a 35mph exit and my record i guess has been 65mph...

I love the new on and off ramps they've been building down here! they suggest 35mph, but you can easily take any of them @ around 60mph. I'll try the 6th street exit next time Im up there... is that going north or southbound?

Don't try it because i don't want something to happend and me feel responsible. I've been doing it almost every day for the last 6 years and i've seen cars jump off the bridge. It's going southbound but theirs two roads, one going to the queen mary and the 6th street exit.

That's not a suggested 35mph exit the max anyone can do is 50mph maybe.

I have a picture of me doing 120mph as the clock rolled over 200,000 miles. I have to find it, on my home computer. When I get back home I will post it.

Over here in Europe, we have soldiers with their cars from the states on the autobahn. Really big, powerful engines and they'll tell you how they can do 120mph easily. To that my only reply is always, "Can you do it for 6 - 8 hours straight?" Frankfurt to Willhelmshaven(North Sea coast) on the autobahn can be done in 8 hours if your maintain an average speed of 200 and "h" (as in kph).

Well guys, I have had my 400E just over 150mph - probably will never do that again - scared to death. I did not take a pic of that one. I did decide to dig my phone out of my pocket while cruising at 140 mph down IH-10 in San Antonio, ended up slowing down to about 130 mph by the time I got the phone out, closed the sunroof and quickly approaching traffic.

That's pretty nutz!! You're doing that with a full tank of gas! I could only go that fast on a half tank or less! I bet she felt like she was going alot slower, huh?

Hey, thanks for risking your life and the lives of others for me! Great pic!!

Its a secret!........................ Naw....I think it came out that way because of a reflection. That would be cool, now that you mentioned it.

At 140mph the car feels the same as if you were goin 60 or 70 mph, incredibly smooth. Way too fast for the open road.

its nice that some of you feel the need for speed, but how many of you have actually had any track experience, high performance driving schools that youve attended and so on?

theres a lot of what ifs when your doing 120mph +.

and please dont get me wrong, i have certainly been there. christmas eve a few years ago on a deserted highway on my way to phoenix. just me and the stars.

after about ten minutes of 130 (i run H speed rated tires!) i told myself that the federal headlights werent illuminating a far enough distance and slowed down. at that speed, the force of running into something as arbitrary as an armadillo, can be catastrophic. and at that speed, dont you dare think you can swerve around it or brake in time.

what if your tire blows up?

food for thought.

just 110 for me.

i was stupid for doing it with old tires and a blown headgasket.

Maybe when i pick up a E420 i'll top that.
