Question How much for new paint?..

Hey fellas

I was wondering if any of you socal guys know how much a quality paint job is?.. and where to get it?
I eventually want to take off the white and replace it with deep black paint. as some of you guys will see on saturday the paint on my car needs to be re-done asap! I've heard from people anywhere from $600 - $1,500. I'm not planning on getting it done for a couple of months, but I would like to figure out exactly how much now, so I can fit it in my budget.

Thanx for the help!

it depends on a lot of things.

the color, the work needed, prep work, body work needed, quality of paint, etc.
i had my motor pulled and interior ripped out, every ding taken out and painted bentley black. a soso bs paint job will run you +/- $500 and ive seen some cost $6000+. u get what you pay for in body work

if you're doing a proper paint job with the same color, it will require the windows be removed (f + r), all weather stripping, all lights, bumpers, cladding, hardware, etc... I got a estimate of 2500 for a good paint job without removal of the engine or interior as I felt it was unnecessary in my case.

I had a a complete re-paint done on a 1990 300ce that i had. It was 3k. Most anyone that does good pant work will charge between 2500-3500
depending on the amount of body work needing done. Could be even more for a color change

mercedes E220 (w124)
Guys why did mercedes after the 1990's i think start doing the w124 in two tone colours E.g. white body and gray bumpers . And also can u still get these paints from mercedes, couz my mercs got a gold body and the bumpers are a darker shade of gold ?

I also see most of the w124 owner are going for a full paint job like e.g. if some one gets black and there car is two tone they just paint it all black and **** the two tone.

If you're going to repaint it, do it properly. a bad paint job is worse than not getting one at all.
on my old car i got a really cheap job done, because the car was old and i didn't plan on keeping it, just something to clean it up a bit. what a fiasco, those f**ks totally ruined it, it looked okay for a couple of months, then it went to ***** and they said i was outside my warranty or whatever.

PS never go to Earl Scheib paint places.

chips and rust spot from the previous owner. People sitting on the trunk... and all the paint around the door handles are scratched... i beleive the original owner used to take her friends places all the time in this car, and their nails and rings really scratched it up. old people!

I have of course, sandpapered all the rust spots and covered them with white rustproofing, so it looks alot better and the rust shouldn't come back... but it's not the "cleanest" look. the car has spent it's whole life near the ocean, so I'm not surprised to see rust. but I hate it!

I agree with you fully, Zed. I def getting quality paint and a professional job, and i'm will to pay extra for it. i'm just really hoping it's realistic to get it done for less than $2,000.

Yes you can get a quality paint job for less than $2000 Basecoat/Clear Coat.

You should drive to long beach on the west side ( anaheim blvd ) there are alot of good body shops and the race card does get you a discount sometimes so let me know...lol

I am ressurecting this thread because some of us newbies can learn from the info in it. Plus, I wanted to ask this relatable question:

My car has the original paint, but like other cars of similar age, and because its a dark color, it has visible scratches, etc. I am wondering how deep I can go in terms of rubbing it out.........is the paint on a '95 single stage or BC/CC?

Thanks in advance.
