Heated mirror question.

Heated mirror...my 1989 300te has power to the mirror, but it ends there. A meter on the mirror terminals shows no current flow. I even put the mirror in the freezer to activate the sensor. Any idea how to repair this? A new mirror is $125...OR, I will just scrape the mirror clear all winter (cheaper)

the mirror heat is activated by the outside temp sensor on the front bumper.

How do I test to see if my mirror itself is functioning...I see that there is power to the mirror , via a meter to the jack in the door...

Actually, I reread the manual and the mirror has its own thermostat. Where it says "ambient temp" I thought it was talking about the ambient temp sensor. Here's the info I have:

Do you need the driver's side and is it power and heated, or just heated?

Unhappy

Try to check the resitance with an Ohm-Meter. If nothing or short circuit can be read, you need a new one no repair possible. The electrics are all an integral cast part of the mirror glas. I had to swap mine in the S-Class W220 and it was $320.- :-(

Shame, I'm selling a driver's side power operation on eBay.
Sorry I can't help.
