What do you guys think about these wheel sizes?
17 x 7.5" ET 36 in the Front.
17 x 8.5" ET 34 in the Rear.
So, being that I gave you the wheel sizes along with the offset - what do you guys think about the size on my 1995 E420?
17 x 8.5" ET 34 in the Rear.

I am not an offset expert, but I would say that 17's are perfect, and that if you go wider than 7.5" in the front, the suspension doesn't feel right, as in the feel of the steering, they also tend to train rail on rutted hwys too.

my wheels came +38 and before i put the spacers on, they rubbed against the brakes. i ran 10mm spacers in the front (which pushed the offset to +28) and 10mm spacers in the rear (which made it +23). you may run into fitment problems, but thats nothing 5/10mm spacers wont fix.

Correct offset on the W124, except 500E is 35 for the 17" rims. You will have no problem with those offsets and 7.5 front and 8.5 rear will set the car perfect. just insure that your tire sizes stay within a couple of % otherwise you can trigger the ABS since it will think things are hosed up. I have not experienced this but have been told that you want to keep within 3%. You can go to several sites to profile the overall circumference of the tires to make the determination. Base your calculation off the stock 215/45-17 which is the 17" equilvilant to the 205/60-15

I can get a good deal on them now since I work at the benz dealership.
Just going to get them for the time being - OEM = Clean Look.
McBear, I know what you're talking about in regards to trigging the ABS light and etc. The wheels I have now on the E420 does that sometimes ever since I put on the Hammer wheels. Know how to fix it? The light gets annoying when it comes on.

I am running 17 x 8 x et35 at all four corners. They look very nice, but unfortunately I am also running 235-45 tires at all four corners. They are great in back and fill up the wells nicely, but they rub everywhere in front. I will try 225's next time....or sell my wheels and get 7.5's.
FYI...I have never had the issue with anti-locks that you guys are describing.

I am getting ready to put a set of Aero1 Hammers on the Sportline [even though they weigh abit more than I like] but will be putting same tires front and rear.
I will talk to a couple of people here to see how to resolve. It has to be a threshold on the ABS if it is a tire circumference differential. If so, finding what the % threshold is and massaging it would be the solution.

Thanks again for the education BTW.

i can take some later. I would agree about the suspension though... It does feel funny with the 8 inch wide wheel. I just got my Vogtlands today in the mail, so I'm going to try to get them installed and then we'll see how the 215 tire looks.

I run 18x8.5 rims in all 4 corners of my car with 225/40 tires and it handles and rides beautifully and only rubs if i hit an unexpected dip or speed bump, not sure what the offset on these wheels is though, the only real negative i can think of is that they do tend to rail onto grooves in the road

Personally I'm getting the RH AA topline in 17x8 et 35 and 17x9 et 29. See my other post.
